The Department of Preschool and Primary Education is one of Varberg Municipality's largest departments with nearly 2,200 employees. Within our areas of operation – preschool, primary school, and child and student health services – we are here for children and students. Together, we shape the future.

Klapperstenen Preschool is located in Breared in the southern part of Varberg and has space for a total of 160 children. The outdoor environment consists of three different courtyards and is close to forests, meadows, and the sea.

Organizationally, the younger children are located downstairs in two large "home bases" (hemvister), and the older children are upstairs in two large "home bases". Within each home base, the children are divided into 3-4 groups with two to three educators in each group.

Job Responsibilities

As a preschool teacher with us, you have overall responsibility for ensuring that education and teaching are conducted according to the preschool curriculum. We offer a working environment where play, curiosity, and a language-developing approach are at the center.

Main responsibilities:

• Lead the pedagogical work in the team and create a safe and stimulating environment where every child can develop based on their prerequisites.
• Design accessible learning environments, both indoors and outdoors, that challenge and inspire children through play.
• Document and analyze children's development and learning to make pedagogical processes visible and secure the quality of education.
• Actively participate in child health work and promote an inclusive approach where all children are seen and affirmed.
• Create professional relationships with guardians and collaborate regarding the child's development and the preschool's mission.

During the morning, educators work in pedagogical pairs with a specific group of 9-15 children, depending on age, and during the afternoon, they work in partially mixed groups based on children's interests and needs. The preschool is based on the Reggio Emilia philosophy, and the work is project-oriented, meaning everyone works on different projects stemming from children's interests under a common overarching theme.

We want to create a preschool where children's participation and influence are taken seriously. The accessible learning environments are created and changed based on children's interests, needs, and the different projects underway. Language development work is an important part of the preschool's work, partly because we are a multicultural preschool.

Qualifications

We are looking for someone driven by a desire to develop the preschool based on current research and proven experience. You combine pedagogical competence with warmth and have a genuine commitment to being present in children's daily lives. Through your professional approach, you build good relationships with children, colleagues, and guardians, seeing collaboration as a key to a good work environment.

We see that you have:

• Authorization as a preschool teacher.
• Strong grounding in the curriculum and the ability to translate its goals into daily pedagogical work.
• A genuine commitment to children's development and the ability to be present in their daily lives.
• A language-developing approach and good ability to communicate orally and in writing.
• Good ability for self-leadership and confidence in organizing your own work.

It is meritorious if you have:

• Experience with alternative communication such as PECS (Picture Exchange Communication System) or visual supports.
