The Early Childhood and Primary Education Department is one of Varberg Municipality's largest departments, with nearly 2,200 employees. Within our areas of operation – preschool, primary school, and child and student health services – we are here for children and students. Together, we shape the future.

The Multilingualism Unit in Varberg is the municipality's central resource for mother tongue instruction, study guidance, and language support. The operation consists of a large team of approximately 34 teachers who support around 750 multilingual children and students in preschools, primary schools, and upper secondary schools.

RESPONSIBILITIES

As a mother tongue teacher in Japanese, you have an important role in strengthening students' linguistic identity and their ability to learn in all subjects. You will become part of an organization that views the mother tongue as a valuable resource for the student's entire school journey and as a pathway to better understanding the Swedish language. The role involves planning and conducting mother tongue instruction in Japanese, creating the best possible conditions for learning. Your focus is on helping students develop their mother tongue.

QUALIFICATIONS

To succeed in the role of mother tongue teacher, you have a special ability to create engagement and make language learning meaningful for your students. You demonstrate judgment in your work and can independently plan your day and interventions across different units. Since you meet many different colleagues and students during a week, it is important that you collaborate effectively with others and easily adapt your teaching and approach to the student's age and needs.

We are looking for someone who:

• Has a teaching license with eligibility in Japanese, or another pedagogical education that we assess as equivalent.
• Has very good language skills in Japanese, both spoken and written.
• Has good knowledge of the Swedish language to collaborate with colleagues and interpret curricula.
• Hold a valid B driving license.
• Have good digital competence to use municipal learning platforms and digital tools in teaching.

Salary: Monthly salary.
