We are now seeking a PhD student for the doctoral education in Health and Lifestyle, with the goal of obtaining a doctoral degree.

The initial appointment will be for a maximum of one year and may be extended by one year at a time, provided that the PhD studies progress satisfactorily (Swedish Higher Education Ordinance, Chapter 5, Section 7).

School of Health and Welfare

The University consists of four interdisciplinary schools, and the current position is located at the School of Health and Welfare (HOV).

Description and Responsibilities

You will be admitted as a PhD student to the doctoral education in Health and Lifestyle. Your responsibilities will include:

• Collaborating with representatives from the Swedish Ice Hockey Association to develop a plan to address the project's research questions.
• Investigating, implementing, and evaluating interventions with a focus on promoting the relationship between instruction and the practical execution of actions in elite sports.
• Maintaining regular contact with employees at the Swedish Ice Hockey Association and other stakeholders to plan, coordinate, and implement interventions.
• In close collaboration with supervisors and other key participants in the project, compiling research results and writing scientific publications in accordance with standard practices, as well as communicating popular science to the surrounding society.

Institutional service duties of up to 20% may be included in the position.

Qualifications

Eligible for appointment as a PhD student is someone who is admitted or has already been admitted to a doctoral education at a university (Swedish Higher Education Ordinance, Chapter 5, Section 3).

To be admitted to doctoral education, the applicant must have basic eligibility and the specific eligibility required by the subject, as well as be assessed as having the ability to benefit from the education (Swedish Higher Education Ordinance, Chapter 5, Section 5).

Basic eligibility for doctoral education (according to HE Ordinance Chapter 7, Section 39) is held by those who:

• have completed an advanced level degree,
• have fulfilled course requirements of at least 240 higher education credits, of which at least 60 higher education credits are at an advanced level,
• or in some other way, within or outside the country, have acquired substantially equivalent knowledge.

Other Qualifications

• Master's degree in sports science or another subject relevant to the project's focus.
• Good proficiency in Swedish and English, both spoken and written.
• Strong analytical skills and critical thinking, ability to work both independently and collaboratively.
• Previous experience in sports, either as an athlete, leader, or in another role, is meritorious.

In the appointment, emphasis will be placed on the applicant's ability to benefit from doctoral education (Swedish Higher Education Ordinance, Chapter 5, Section 5).

Salary according to local agreement for PhD students employed at Halmstad University.
