At the Swedish Migration Agency, we work with one of today's major societal challenges – migration. We have a total of approximately 6,000 employees here, and we have an unusually important job!

We are currently looking for software engineers who want to work in an enabling platform team, focusing on building robust technical solutions and providing other development teams with the right conditions for success.

Does that sound interesting? Then we hope you will read on.

The Swedish Migration Agency is currently undergoing a long-term shift from a highly integrated architecture to a more loosely coupled and scalable architecture.

Your role will be to be part of a team that, together with other development teams, drives this transformation forward – towards a more flexible, modern, and efficient way of developing systems and services.

As a colleague at the Swedish Migration Agency, you will work in a technically challenging environment where we continuously improve our solutions and working methods. Here, public benefit is combined with modern software development – you contribute to solutions that make a real difference, while enjoying a secure and stable employment.

What does a software engineer do at the Swedish Migration Agency?

As a software engineer with us, you will become part of a platform team that works closely with other development teams. We work with a high degree of autonomy within the teams, using modern technologies and maintaining a continuous focus on delivering value.

We place great emphasis on a strong team culture – we share knowledge, learn from each other, and value different perspectives.

We work agilely with a strong focus on automation and are moving towards a loosely coupled, event-driven architecture. We are also currently building a modern, cloud-native platform based on Kubernetes and Docker.

Together with your new colleagues, you will:

  • develop tools, technologies, and frameworks that simplify and streamline development work – both for yourselves and for other teams
  • create technical prerequisites for stable and continuous deliveries
  • work with testing as a natural part of the development process
  • collaborate closely with the team's users, administration, as well as operations and support organizations

We have a strong focus on continuous improvement – both in how we work and in what we build. There are good opportunities here to influence technical choices, working methods, and direction.

You will become part of an organization where technical challenges meet socially important needs – and where your skills make a concrete difference.

Who are you?

You thrive in teams where collaboration is central and where everyone shares responsibility for the delivery. You are confident in your skills, have a structured working approach, and a strong focus on quality – both in your own code and in the team's delivery.

You have the ability to see the big picture, understand different needs, and contribute to solutions that work in a larger context.

The ideal candidate has

  • a university degree in computer science, software engineering, or computer technology (Bachelor's or Master's), or equivalent experience
  • at least 2 years of experience in software development
  • strong communication skills and the ability to express yourself well in both spoken and written Swedish and English

We place great emphasis on personal suitability, especially your ability to collaborate, take responsibility, and exercise judgment in complex technical environments.

It is an advantage if you have

  • experience working with loosely coupled architectures
  • experience with event streaming, e.g., Kafka
  • experience with microservices and microservice architecture
