About Us

Swedish Church Jönköping, in the Diocese of Växjö, is a dynamic and growing parish that reflects the city's development and changes. With an annual population growth of almost 2,000 inhabitants and a municipality that aims to reach 200,000 inhabitants in the long term, our parish is in constant motion. This development affects not only our residents but also business life, associations, and the role of the Christian church in the city.

We operate in a context where our ten churches are organized into three geographical parish areas, and where we run preschools, family counseling, as well as counseling and diaconal clinics. We are present at the hospital, the university, and within the prison service, and we are constantly seeking new creative ways to be present where people live their lives.

About the Call and the Mission

As a priest in Österäng Church, you will have a special responsibility for the church's presence in the district and for developing worship life, diaconal work, and ecumenical activities.

Here you will truly be a priest. Together with the staff, you will:

lead services where people can meet God in the word and the sacraments
meet people in pastoral care, home visits, and everyday conversations
be one of the driving forces in the church's diaconal work together with employees and volunteers
build relationships with residents, associations, authorities, and other community actors in the area
develop and deepen cooperation with the denominations and parishes that use Österäng Church for worship and activities
create meeting places that strengthen community, integration, and social sustainability
teach and inspire people to discipleship and deeper faith
be part of the Eastern Parish Area with colleagues from the district church Ekhagskyrkan and Kristine Church, one of the city's large churches

You will be an important representative of the Swedish Church in a context where relationships, collaboration, and presence are crucial for the church's mission.

Who We Are Looking For

You are ordained as a priest in the Swedish Church and have experience in parish work.

You have a strong commitment to the church's diaconal mission and see the human encounter as a central part of the priest's service.

You have the ability to build bridges between people, cultures, and church traditions, and you see the ecumenical community as an asset.

You are secure in your priestly identity and have a desire to develop the church's presence in a multicultural context.
