Department of Clinical Sciences

The Department of Clinical Sciences, Division of Anesthesiology, is seeking a veterinary nurse with horse experience for a hourly-paid position within a research project.

About the job

During your employment, you will collect environmental samples at UDS (Swedish University of Agricultural Sciences University Hospital), specifically at the equine surgical unit. You will be responsible for planning your own sampling schedule, as well as preparing and handling instruments and pumps for gas collection in the working environment.

The duration of work depends on when the research sample collection can be carried out.

Your background

We are looking for you who are a licensed veterinary nurse or a temporary veterinary nurse. Good horse experience is a requirement. Experience with sampling equipment or technical instruments is advantageous. As a person, you are organized, structured, and motivated. You have good communication and social skills. We place great emphasis on your personal qualities.

About us

The Department of Clinical Sciences is responsible for basic education, research, and doctoral education in anesthesiology, imaging diagnostics, animal nursing, epidemiology, laboratory animal science, surgery, clinical chemistry, internal medicine, and reproduction. Our operations cover all animal species within all these subjects.

At SLU University Hospital (UDS), education, research, and advanced animal healthcare go hand in hand. We train tomorrow's veterinarians and veterinary nurses and provide first-class care for companion animals, performance animals, and production animals. We also disseminate knowledge to the public. By combining established knowledge with the latest research results, we are developing the animal healthcare of the future.

Under one roof, we offer healthcare for horses, dogs, cats, and other small animals. In addition to modern, operation-adapted facilities, we have access to advanced imaging diagnostics and a veterinary medical specialist laboratory. The UDS operations also include an ambulatory unit that visits stables and farms to examine and treat horses and farm animals.

Employment type:

Hourly paid employment; Special fixed-term employment.

This means that you will be offered work during shorter periods within the timeframe specified below under "Scope". You can accept or decline each opportunity offered. When you accept one or more work opportunities, a new employment contract is entered into for those specific occasions.

Scope:

The employment covers approximately 80–160 hours, but this may vary. The employment is valid until August 30, 2026.
