Our mission is to support the principal and the local student health team and to provide our students in Luleå Municipality with the support they need to reach their full potential. The Student Health Service consists of school counselors, school nurses, school doctors, specialists in special education, and school psychologists.

DUTIES

The school counselor contributes with psychosocial expertise within the student health service's work, always with a focus on school reality. As a school counselor, you contribute to students achieving knowledge goals and removing obstacles for students' learning. The work takes place in close cooperation with students, guardians, educators, other school staff, and school management, and requires both the ability to work independently and collaboration in a team.

Your tasks consist mainly of counseling and guidance in contacts with students and their parents as well as relevant school staff. You will be part of the schools' local student health teams and participate in mapping and assessments regarding individual students, as well as being a support in contacts with other operations/authorities and support forms that society can offer.

You will primarily work promoting and preventive, but also remedial from a student health perspective at the individual, class, and school levels. You are offered a thorough introduction and thereafter have support in the work via a senior counselor as the role is sometimes complex.

QUALIFICATIONS

We are looking for you who have a social work degree with at least two years of experience in previous social work. It is meritorious if you have experience working with children and young people and with social services. You have good knowledge of children's and young people's needs and the laws governing social child care. A driver's license and access to a car are required for the role, and compensation is of course provided.

You who apply for the job are secure, relationship-building, analytical, and creative. You have the courage to stand up for your assessments and you have the ability to radiate security even in uncertain situations. Building relationships and collaborating with others is an important part of the role as a school counselor, as well as being a problem solver who can see the whole picture in all details. If problems arise, you often find solutions outside the box.

We apply competency-based recruitment with a focus on specific skills and characteristics required to succeed in the role and to ensure an objective assessment.

The position is a permanent position, starting as close to the school year start as possible, with the current service placement; Midskogsskolan, Mandaskolan, and Hedskolan. The employment is organized under the Resource Center, and the service placement can be adjusted depending on the number of students and school structure from school year to school year.

If you become relevant for the position, you will need to show a clean extract from the criminal record and the suspicion register.
