Description

Do you want to make a difference for young people who are outside school and work? Now is your chance to become part of the "New Paths" (Nya Vägar) project, funded by the European Social Fund and implemented in Gävleborg County, where Ljusdal Municipality is a key actor. The project aims to strengthen young people aged 16 to 29 who are neither in employment nor education or training (NEET) through individualized support measures and enhanced collaboration between municipalities and civil society.

Ljusdal Municipality participates in this project together with the other municipalities in the county during the period from September 1, 2026, to April 30, 2029.

Responsibilities

Your focus will be on young people with complex life situations, often characterized by incomplete schooling, mental health issues, social isolation, and neuropsychiatric disabilities. Many of these young people also experience lack of motivation, weak networks, or norms that create additional barriers in daily life. By building close and trusting relationships, using an individualized and relationship-based approach, you will follow each young person's unique path towards studies, work, or other meaningful activities.

Your role involves using proven methods such as Motivational Interviewing (MI), Supported Employment, progress measurement, and validation to create structure, clarity, and participation in the young people's development. The work combines individual support with group activities, internships, and low-threshold activities to strengthen motivation and social inclusion. You will work closely with a colleague serving a similar target group and receive support from coordinators and the unit manager for planning and developing interventions.

A key part of your responsibilities is collaborating with external actors such as the Region, the Swedish Social Insurance Agency, social services, adult education centers (Komvux), and the Swedish Public Employment Service, to ensure that each young person has access to the right support and resources based on their situation. Collaboration with civil society organizations – associations, study associations, and non-profit activities – is central and contributes trust-based relationships, low-threshold activities, and social contexts that broaden and deepen the support for young people, while complementing public efforts.

Qualifications

We are looking for you who have at least a two-year post-secondary education in social work, behavioral sciences, or other relevant education that the employer deems equivalent. Experience and knowledge of the target group's specific challenges, such as mental health issues and neuropsychiatric disabilities, are meritorious. It is a great advantage if you are proficient in and have experience with methods such as Motivational Interviewing (MI), Supported Employment, and validation, as these are central to the working method.

You are empathetic, communicative, and patient, with a good ability to build trust and create strong relationships. You thrive handling multiple parallel tasks and collaborating with various actors, both internally and externally, while also being able to work independently and in teams. Good organizational and documentation skills, as well as a secure ability to express yourself in Swedish, both verbally and in writing, are necessary. A Class B driver's license is required.

Conditions

The position is fixed-term for the duration of the project and means that you will have a key role in an engaged team that works together to create new and sustainable paths for young people in Ljusdal Municipality and the entire county.

Are you ready to take on this important role and make a difference? We welcome your application!
