As a Mechanical Component Engineer, you ensure that mechanical components meet high demands for quality, function, and reliability in advanced aerospace systems. You drive the qualification of components, investigate deviations and failures, and ensure that component information and technical documentation are correct and up to date. You work within a qualification process where you assess whether a component is suitable based on requirements and the intended operating environment, providing supporting documentation for your choices. The components include fasteners, rivets, nuts, bolts, insulation, as well as hoses, pipes, and fittings. The role alternates between detailed work – digging into datasheets and documentation – and coordinating and driving dialogue between design, procurement, and production. You will have the most contact with suppliers, who may also present their product range. Daily work is structured in Jira. Summary of responsibilities:
- Drive the qualification of new mechanical components based on requirements and operating environment
- Provide technical expertise in investigations regarding deviations and failures, such as incorrect deliveries
- Handle material declarations related to legislation, e.g., permitted substances in a product
- Develop and maintain technical standards and documentation on how components should be handled and used
- Ensure that component information is correct, up to date, and accessible
You have strong analytical skills and a structured approach to work, with a clear holistic mindset and technical understanding. You can handle and explain complex information in a pedagogical way, shifting seamlessly between a detailed focus and a holistic perspective. Since you sit between production, procurement, and design, you are proactive and communicative – you gather information, put it into context, and take responsibility for your tasks. You are also not afraid to share your own thoughts and ideas. We are looking for someone who has:
- At least a University College degree (YH), or a Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Engineering, preferably in mechanical engineering, design, or product development
- Relevant experience in areas such as design, product development, production technical preparation, or a technical role close to mechanics
- Good proficiency in Swedish and English, both spoken and written, as documentation and supplier dialogue occur in both languages
- Ability to undergo and pass a security clearance prior to employment, which may involve citizenship requirements
