Are you at the beginning of your legal career and want to work in a dynamic daily routine? The Prosecution Authority in Umeå is now looking for a Legal Caseworker (Beredningsjurist).

Your responsibilities

As a Legal Caseworker, you perform legal work together with the prosecutors. You assist them in their work and participate in preparatory work during criminal investigations and prior to various prosecutorial decisions. Furthermore, you help monitor certain of the prosecutors' tasks, propose measures, and participate in various collaboration meetings. It also occurs that you assist prosecutors during court hearings. As a Legal Caseworker, you also assist prosecutors and case handlers with various administrative issues.

The daily work is event-driven, and cases can arrive quickly, requiring you to make swift decisions and assess urgency.

Your qualities and qualifications

We are looking for you who have completed or are at the end of your legal education. Upon starting as a Legal Caseworker, you must have completed your law degree.

We want you to

  • have a strong interest in criminal and procedural law and the operations of the Swedish Prosecution Authority
  • be meticulous, structured, and able to follow established guidelines and routines
  • be proactive and responsible, and able to prepare your cases independently
  • have the ability to prioritize, work sustainably, and efficiently
  • be stress-resistant as the workload can be high at times
  • find it easy to collaborate, build good working relationships, and have an open attitude towards your surroundings
  • are service-oriented
  • have the ability to express yourself well in Swedish, both orally and in writing
  • have good communication skills.

It is meritorious if you have acquired experience with criminal cases through studies, internships, or work during or after your studies.

About the employment

The employment is a permanent position with a six-month probationary period.

The requirement for this position is that you have a Nordic law degree.

We offer a salary level based on tasks that are adapted for you at the beginning of your legal career. Before offering employment, the Swedish Prosecution Authority may conduct register checks in the suspicion register and the criminal record register. The register check is performed on the final candidate.

The Swedish Prosecution Authority is an emergency preparedness authority. Upon employment, you may be assigned to the Swedish Prosecution Authority in times of war. Read more under Working with us (#).
