About the Court

Eleven people work at Lycksele District Court, five of whom are lawyers. The court now needs to strengthen its staff with one additional judge to handle a sustained increase in the number of incoming cases over a longer period.

The court is small but covers a large jurisdiction. At the district court, all types of cases and matters that normally arise in a district court are decided, occurring in the area from the Norwegian border to a few miles from the coast.

Work at the district court is characterized by extensive delegation to a very experienced and competent preparatory organization. The distance between all employees is short, and all work is done with a constant sense of "we"; at Lycksele District Court, we help each other to do a good job together. Both the average age and staff turnover are low.

Through recurring cooperation and various assignments for the court or individual employees, the district court is a natural and active part of the collaboration between the courts in the court of appeal area and in the Swedish courts centrally.

Lycksele District Court is a modern court with high ambitions in relation to the strategic goals of the Swedish courts. The court meets all operational goals and wants to be at the forefront in every way and for all those concerned.

Job Responsibilities

We are looking for you who are judge-trained and want to work in a well-functioning district court with varied and developing job tasks. The starting point is that you should work with all types of cases, but there is an opportunity to adapt the content of the judging work to some extent based on your interests and your experience of different types of cases and matters. The work includes both preparation and decision-making of cases and matters. You are also expected to be an active part of the court's monitoring of legal development and to assist in the training of registrars and other staff.

Qualifications etc.

In addition to being a skilled and analytical lawyer, you must be flexible and have high work capacity. You must be able to immediately participate in the judicial activity, with a high degree of independence and very good teamwork skills. As a person, you are secure and stable, and we assume that you contribute to the good atmosphere in the workplace. Since it involves leading the work of younger lawyers, you need to have an interest and aptitude for sharing your knowledge.

You who apply must meet the requirements set in the Judges' Board's requirement profile for permanent judges. Since this is an appointment issued by the district court itself, it is required that you are a Court of Appeal Assessor or an Administrative Court Assessor unless you are or have been a permanent judge (Section 47, fifth paragraph, first sentence of the District Court Ordinance).

The employment concerns a fixed-term employment for up to 12 months.

Remote work occurs regularly at the district court and takes place after temporary or ongoing agreements.

Other

The district court operates in older, pleasant premises, centrally located in Lycksele. The proximity to transportation is notable as Lycksele bus station is located right next to the courthouse. There are daily flights between Lycksele and Stockholm with departures well adapted for remote work. There are buses between Lycksele and Umeå with a large number of daily departures.

Good and affordable housing is relatively easy to arrange in Lycksele. The shopping range is limited, but the opportunities for outdoor life are enormous. Take the chance and give yourself an inland or northern Sweden adventure. Welcome!
