The International Office is looking for an engaged and responsible International Coordinator who wishes to contribute to the university's internationalization work within the university alliance EC2U (European Campus of City-Universities). As an International Coordinator, you will work to support the activities and individuals connected to the alliance work.

The formation of a university alliance is funded through one of the EU's flagship initiatives for the development of higher education, the European Universities Initiative. The EU's investment in European university alliances aims to have universities in different European countries collaborate transdisciplinarily in deepened strategic alliances to address various future issues and societal challenges. The purpose is to raise the quality of European higher education and contribute to inclusion and enhanced competitiveness. Students within the alliance should be able to tailor their education with courses from the various universities. Through the Erasmus+ program, students and staff receive funding for exchange periods in the other countries. You can read more about the European Universities Initiative here: https://education.ec.europa.eu/education-levels/higher-education/european-universities-initiative (https://education.ec.europa.eu/education-levels/higher-education/european-universities-initiative)

The focus of the EC2U alliance lies in developing processes that contribute to harmonization between the universities within education and research. One of the goals is to create good opportunities for students to move easily between the different universities in the network. In addition to Umeå University, the alliance includes eight universities in Finland, France, Italy, Portugal, Romania, Spain, Germany, and Austria. You can read more about EC2U here: https://ec2u.eu/ (https://ec2u.eu/)

The International Office is an independent unit with 20 employees within the university administration, working with university-wide issues regarding internationalization. The unit's mandate includes responsibility for the university's participation in numerous exchange programs, networks, and international collaborations, tuition fee administration, international student recruitment, international alumni activities, and supporting the mobility of students and staff. All these parts are important for the development of the university alliance EC2U.
