Your role
We are looking for a GIS specialist for the Land Use and Community Relations department who wants to develop and realize the benefits of GIS within Boliden Mines. You will work strategically to drive digital development, demonstrate the value of GIS, and support operations in implementing GIS-based working methods.
In this role, you have coordination responsibility for geodata related to properties, land, and forestry, and contribute to developing Boliden's digital processes. You also support the procurement of GIS services and act as a support resource for the operation's GIS users. The role combines strategic work with operational elements in projects such as land acquisition, biodiversity, reindeer herding, and forestry management.
We are looking for someone who is structured, self-initiative, and skilled at building relationships. You have experience in driving and leading projects, and thrive in a role where you get to analyze, improve, and develop operations. You also want to contribute to sustainable development together with engaged colleagues.
Your team
The position is a permanent full-time role, primarily based in Boliden, but can also be based at one of Boliden's other operational sites.
You report to the Head of Land Use and Community Relations and will become part of an engaged team of eight people. Together, you are responsible for forestry management, property issues, social sustainability, biodiversity, and GIS coordination across all of Boliden's mining operations – a mission where collaboration, competence, and development are at the center.
The role involves close collaboration with colleagues, project managers in our mining areas, staff functions, and corporate lawyers. The work is carried out both at the office and in the field, which involves travel and some fieldwork.
Your responsibilities
- Contribute to developing strategies and working methods for GIS.
- Drive the development of GIS in close collaboration with operations, including map layers, functions, and competence building.
- Ensure that the GIS system functions, develops, and is updated in collaboration with IT and external consultants (AddSpatial).
- Participate in projects such as operational expansion, land acquisition, biodiversity, reindeer herding, and forestry management.
- Contribute to work on property, forestry, and land issues with a focus on GIS.
- Provide support, training, and assistance to GIS users.
- Ensure that geographic information is structured, up-to-date, and accessible.
- Produce maps and other GIS-based decision support materials.
Your qualifications
- Academic education in areas such as GIS, technical surveying, urban planning, or a similar field.
- Experience within GIS and digitalization.
- Experience from project management and change management.
- Fluency in Swedish and English, both spoken and written, as well as a valid driver's license (Category B) as travel and fieldwork are part of the role.
