The HR department consists of 20 employees who are jointly responsible for both strategic and operational HR work within the university, providing professional and qualified support in HR and payroll matters. We are now looking for a Unit Manager for the Payroll Unit.
Responsibilities
As the Unit Manager for the Payroll Unit, you are responsible for the unit’s operations and staff. The unit consists of six employees, and your role involves leading and developing work across the entire payroll process, including but not limited to payroll runs, financial management related to payroll such as tax and employer contribution reporting, reconciliations, and statistics related to employment and payroll.
Responsibility for regulations regarding business travel and compliance with these, as well as contractual responsibility towards a procured travel agency, is also part of the unit’s assignment. This also applies to the processing of occupational pensions and employment-related insurance.
The assignment includes driving the automation of our payroll processes and developing our support systems. Through your leadership, you contribute to the unit delivering high quality and efficiency to the organization. Together with your employees, you develop, lead, and monitor the university’s internal payroll processes.
As a manager, you are attentive and foster inclusion to utilize the competence within the unit. You coach your group in daily work as well as in development work with the goal of continuously improving operations. You view your role and work as part of a whole and work cross-process to provide common HR support to the organization.
You report directly to the HR Director and are part of the HR department’s management group. Here, you are expected to contribute your expertise to the department’s overall mission and ongoing change work.
Qualifications
We are looking for you who have relevant education in the payroll area or equivalent competence assessed by the employer as equivalent, combined with work experience relevant to the position.
To succeed in the role, we see that you:
- Have extensive experience in qualified payroll work within the public sector, primarily within the university sector, and are confident in the entire payroll process.
- Have current experience in personnel leadership.
- Have very good knowledge of state collective agreements as well as interpretation and application of relevant laws, regulations, and collective agreements.
- Have experience in introducing and/or leading the change of payroll and HR systems, as well as system management and system administration.
- Have very good system proficiency and long experience working in payroll systems similar to our current system, Primula.
- Have experience working with business travel regulations and being contractually responsible and specifying requirements towards procured suppliers.
- Have very good ability to collaborate and build trust with employees and colleagues.
- Have the ability to work in a structured, analytical, and holistic manner.
- Communicate easily and express yourself well orally and in writing in both Swedish and English.
