Östbergsskolan is a grades 4-9 school with approximately 410 students. Our school is an inspiring workplace where we put the student at the center. Everyone should feel included, responsible, respected, and secure. At Östbergsskolan, we have a positive view of students and high expectations. We employ a language-developing approach in all activities and take our roles as adult role models seriously. Collegial learning is central to everyone at the school; we learn from and with each other to develop our operations. Our goal is to create a good operation with a high level of knowledge and great social competence, together with parents and students, giving our students the best conditions for succeeding in life. Together, we can make a difference every day.

Your new job

As a teacher in the after-school program (fritidshem) and student assistant, you will support the children's development and learning. You are the person who will support students in their schoolwork and be present throughout the day, thereby gaining a holistic view of how the student and the group function both during school hours and during after-school activities.

Your tasks include supporting teachers and students during school hours and being responsible for teaching in the after-school program. You will be responsible for planning, implementation, documentation, and follow-ups. Collaboration with the rest of the work team and the home is important to ensure that students have the opportunity to develop as much as possible. Learning can take many forms, and all students are different with different needs. The need to adapt the operation to meet everyone is a large and important task.

The position also implies that you should be available during recesses, where you will support students in need of assistance or lead recess activities.

Your qualifications

  • You have good knowledge of Swedish, both spoken and written.
  • You have suitable education, e.g., student assistant, childcare worker, preschool teacher, or teacher in the after-school program.
  • You have good knowledge of the after-school program's steering documents and can translate these into daily work.
  • You have a strong interest in developing teaching and supporting students in their learning process.
  • Your view of students aligns with the value-based intentions of the curriculum.
  • You have a great interest in pedagogical challenges and dare to challenge yourself and your colleagues to think about development.
  • You are computer literate. It is an advantage if you have worked with digital systems aimed at schools, such as Google Workspace, Unikum, or Skola24.
  • Previous professional experience is an advantage.
  • Experience working with students with NPD (Neurodevelopmental Disorders) or students in adapted primary school is an advantage, as collaboration with the school's other operations occurs regularly.

We are looking for you!

You have the empathetic ability to understand students' needs, meet them where they are, and listen, encourage, stimulate, and challenge them to further development.

You are flexible and can find new solutions. You are self-reliant, confident in your pedagogical leadership, and have a good ability to build relationships with both students and colleagues.

How the recruitment process works

In this recruitment, we will ask you for an extract from the criminal record.

Interviews may take place on an ongoing basis. We want you to attach your CV and cover letter to your application. Grades/certificates do not need to be sent with the application. We ask you to complete these if an interview becomes relevant.

Östersund Municipality has considered the choice of advertising channels prior to advertising and therefore declines calls from recruitment agencies and advertising sales.
