to apply for the job
Odensalaskolan, an adapted primary school that also includes an after-school program (fritidshem) and supervision for students over 12 (club), is a grades 1–9 school with approximately 110 students.
Here you have the chance to make a real difference for students with intellectual disabilities – every day. At Odensalaskolan Adapted Primary School, we work long-term on safety, development, and learning in an environment where everyone should feel they can succeed. We are now looking for an engaged preschool teacher or after-school program teacher who wants to help create a really great school day for our students.
About the position
In this role, you are an important part of a safe and creative team surrounding the students. You work closely with colleagues, student assistants, and guardians to shape a school and after-school activity where structure, joy, and clarity go hand in hand. You are present both during the school day and at the after-school program, contributing to the overall well-being of each student.
- Plan, implement, and evaluate teaching and after-school activities based on students' needs
- Use PECS (Picture Exchange Communication System) and other visual aids for communication and participation
- Create clear, predictable, and safe learning environments, both indoors and outdoors
- Collaborate with colleagues, student health services, and guardians regarding students' development
- Actively contribute to values-based work, inclusion, and language-developing approaches
Why you will want to work with us
Here you become part of a public organization that takes its mission very seriously – but also believes that laughter and a lack of pretension are essential in everyday life. We believe in a positive outlook on children and students, and we support each other in finding solutions, not problems. You will have colleagues who are happy to share ideas, materials, and experiences, and who consider collegial learning a daily routine, not a project.
- Municipal employment with benefits associated with the public sector
- Wellness initiatives and a culture that encourages balance between work and private life
- Inclusive work climate with open dialogue, reflection, and shared learning
- Nature-oriented and stimulating environments that give extra energy to both you and the students
Who we are looking for
We are looking for you who thrive in a context where you are allowed to think new thoughts, try things out, and be creative and flexible – but always with structure and clarity as the foundation. You have a respectful, curious, and solution-oriented approach to both students and colleagues. You are confident in yourself, dare to take initiative, and see collaboration as your superpower.
- Registered preschool teacher or registered after-school program teacher
- Experience and knowledge of PECS in teaching and care
- Good Swedish skills in speech and writing to document and collaborate clearly
- Good collaboration skills and willingness to work closely with colleagues and guardians
- Ability to create structure, safety, and predictability in everyday life
What it is like to work with us
With us, you get to be part of a team where it is perfectly fine to ask questions, test ideas, and say “that didn’t turn out perfect, how do we do better?”. We work in a supportive climate with open doors, close leadership, and a belief that everyone has something important to contribute. Here, inclusion, diversity, and respect are highly valued, both for students and employees.
- Collaboration in cross-professional teams with teachers, educators, and student assistants
- Work in environments that encourage curiosity, creativity, and playful learning
- Culture where reflection, idea exchange, and collegial learning are a natural part of the week
- Certain opportunities for flexible working methods based on the organization's needs
How the recruitment process works
In this recruitment, we will ask you for an extract from the criminal record register.
Interviews may take place on a rolling basis. We want you to attach a CV and cover letter to your application. Grades/certificates do not need to be sent with the application. We ask you to complete these if an interview becomes relevant.
