Are you an experienced and internationally minded language teacher who is looking for an opportunity to be part of the professional team at the International School of the Stockholm Region (ISSR)? ISSR is an authorized International Baccalaureate (IB) school offering four IB programmes. The school is a City of Stockholm school and was founded primarily to serve the educational needs of Stockholm's transient community. ISSR has around 700 students, ranging from ages 6–19, providing a coherent education across the IB continuum.

Your Role
As a Swedish teacher at ISSR, your position includes teaching Swedish Language Acquisition to students in the Primary Years Programme (PYP) and the Middle Years Programme (MYP). This position requires flexibility and strong collaboration skills. You are an active member of the PYP team as well as the Language Acquisition subject group. All teaching, learning, and assessment are based on the International Baccalaureate (IB) Primary Years Programme (PYP) and Middle Years Programme (MYP) curricula. The position is permanent and full-time.
Other responsibilities include:
- Being an advisor to a group of students
- Planning and collaborating with colleagues across the school
- Participating in school activities (assemblies, evening events, conferences, etc.)
- Engaging in ongoing professional development
Your Competence and Experience
A successful candidate is certified and has experience teaching Swedish Language Acquisition within the IB framework in a primary and/or middle school setting. You have a strong understanding of and ability to apply inquiry-based and concept-based teaching. You are flexible and have strong collaboration skills. We are looking for a teacher who has high expectations of students and brings out the best in every student.
As an applicant, you must:
- be a certified Swedish and/or Swedish as an Additional Language teacher for primary and/or middle school
- have a professional level of written and spoken English
- have documented PYP/MYP IB working experience or training
Other qualifications might also include experience working in an international school setting.
You have a strong ability to design teaching, learning, and assessment in accordance with the IB curriculum. You take responsibility for and have insight into students' needs, and structure and adapt your teaching so that a safe and learning environment is created. You are calm, have self-awareness, and are a confident leader in the classroom. You value and create a productive working environment for your students. You place strong emphasis on collaboration and foster good relationships with students, parents, and colleagues. You plan, organize, prioritize, and analyze your lesson planning as well as other assignments that are part of your role in an efficient way.
