We are looking for new homework tutors in Malmö!
Do you want to make a difference? Nearly 20,000 students failed to complete compulsory school in Sweden during the 2024/2025 academic year. There are schools where 7 out of 10 students do not qualify for upper secondary education. At the non-profit foundation Läxhjälpen (Homework Help), you contribute your skills and commitment to help more students meet the qualification requirements with confidence for their future.
We are now looking for new homework tutors in Malmö! We are looking for you who are interested in a paid part-time job and at the same time want to make a concrete social contribution. The position is an hourly employment in the afternoons/evenings and essentially involves being a homework tutor after school hours at one of our partner schools. Here, you work in a team of three tutors, all of whom are university students. You receive training in and work according to our structured approach. Each homework help group consists of 15 students, and together with your colleagues, you are responsible for planning, implementing, and following up on the work.
Job Description
As a homework tutor, you can work either as a regular tutor or as a substitute. As a regular tutor, you work 6 hours per week, distributed over two scheduled afternoons/evenings (possibility for extra shifts exists). As a substitute, you work when regular tutors are on leave or sick. The work is performed after school hours in the school premises.
We are looking for someone who:
- Is a university or college student.
- Has pedagogical skills and can communicate and build relationships with children and young people.
- Is solution-oriented, proactive, and can work according to our structured approach and method.
- Has broad basic subject knowledge and good study techniques.
- Shares Läxhjälpen Foundation's values and vision of a society where all children grow up with the conditions to succeed in school and shape their own future.
Since the job involves working with children, we place great emphasis on personal suitability. Providing a certificate of good conduct (extract from the police record) to the employer is a statutory requirement for working with children and young people.
About Läxhjälpen Foundation
Differences between schools, where you live, where you come from, and what your parents do increasingly determine the likelihood of you succeeding in school. Läxhjälpen Foundation is a non-profit foundation that operates where it is needed most. Homework help is free for the students, and the tutors' salaries are financed through support from the business sector and the public sector.
Läxhjälpen is a concrete initiative addressing one of Sweden's biggest problems today – that more and more young people are not completing school and risk falling outside of society. Carefully selected, paid university students help young people with their studies two evenings a week and serve as positive role models and mentors. Since our founding in 2007, we have developed a structured approach and a clear goal – grades should improve, and students should progress to upper secondary education. Today, we are present in over 90 schools in Stockholm, Södertälje, Västerås, Norrköping, Gothenburg, Landskrona, Umeå, Sundsvall, Uppsala, Gävle, and Malmö.
