The Department of Radiotherapy and Isotope Therapy in Lund is now recruiting a Senior Consultant in Oncology with a placement at the radiotherapy unit. At the radiotherapy unit in Lund, we treat patients from the entire Southern Sweden healthcare region and are one of Sweden's larger radiotherapy centers. The unit provides external beam radiotherapy, brachytherapy, and isotope therapy. We participate in the national collaboration regarding proton therapy and plan selected patients for proton therapy in Uppsala. We have 15 specialist physicians on the department, of whom approximately half are active researchers part-time. Several of the physicians are active in national and international collaborations regarding radiotherapy. We run a national course in radiotherapy for specialty trainees in oncology, which is highly appreciated.

The department is part of the Business Area (VO) Hematology, Oncology, and Radiation Physics, which runs a highly specialized operation with approximately 900 employees offering treatment for cancer diseases to patients throughout the Southern Sweden healthcare region. We provide oncological inpatient and outpatient care in Lund, Malmö, Helsingborg, Kristianstad, and Ystad.

We are a research-intensive operation with the aim of improving care, and our research is conducted in close collaboration with Lund University. Additionally, we work with the education of future nursing assistants, nurses, medical secretaries, doctors, and researchers.

DUTIES

We welcome a Senior Consultant in Oncology to the Department of Radiotherapy and Isotope Therapy at the VO Hematology, Oncology, and Radiation Physics. The position is focused on external beam radiotherapy.

You will work at the radiotherapy unit in Lund, where you will be part of the group of radiotherapy physicians and collaborate with other colleagues. There is also the opportunity to participate in one or more of our diagnostic groups. In addition to clinical duties, the role includes organizational development work, quality work, and supervision of students and specialty trainees. The position is fundamentally 100% clinical and can be combined with independent research.

QUALIFICATIONS

You who apply are a licensed physician with permission to work within Swedish healthcare, and have specialist competence in oncology. Language skills in Swedish at least corresponding to level C1 according to the Council of Europe scale are a requirement. For the position of Senior Consultant, the following are also required:

• Previous full-time employment of at least five years (documented effective time)
• Clinical proficiency and independence in radiotherapy
• Completed or planned course in clinical supervision
• Documented teaching and supervisory merits
• Doctorate (PhD)

A doctorate and/or specialist degree can be credited for a total of six months of clinical employment. The doctorate requirement can be discussed with long documented experience in the field of radiotherapy. We would like you to be research-active.

At a university healthcare unit, physicians are required to have pedagogical experience and education. This you may have acquired through supervising, for example, nursing and medical students as well as doctors in training, and as co-supervisor or main supervisor of doctoral students. Clearly describe in your application completed or planned pedagogical courses, experience of supervision and teaching at different levels.

It is of great importance that you find it easy to collaborate. Furthermore, you have good communication skills and find it easy to plan work, take responsibility, and make decisions. Great importance is attached to personal suitability.
