Högskolan Väst is seeking a Post Doc in Flexible Automation

Research within the industrial automation research environment focuses on smart and human-centered automation with a particular emphasis on flexibility, including the use of multi-agent systems (MAS) and Plug & Produce. The goal is to develop a deeper understanding of control strategies and their impact on system flexibility and human interaction. In the long term, the research aims to develop flexible and intelligent production systems that can understand goals and adapt independently. The activity is carried out in close collaboration with Swedish industry.

In addition to research in automation, the department conducts teaching in the area across several programs (Automation Engineer at undergraduate level, Robot and Automation at master's level, and AI and Automation at master's level) as well as standalone courses and commissioned training for students and professionals.

We are now looking for a Post Doc who wants to participate in the development of the field within flexible automation related to multi-agent systems and Plug & Produce. The candidate will work in our ongoing and upcoming research projects in collaboration with Swedish industry.

Responsibilities:

• Develop and implement methods that link automation to global sustainability goals and create solutions that benefit both industry and the environment.
• In collaboration with other researchers, participate in seeking external funding for the research group.
• In collaboration with other researchers, participate in and disseminate research results through participation in project meetings, network meetings, conferences, and scientific publications.
• Supervise and examine students' thesis projects to support the next generation of engineering talent.
• Actively contribute to the development of courses and educational programs at undergraduate, master's, and doctoral levels.
• Actively contribute to the development of the department and Högskolan Väst.

Qualifications for the Post Doc position:

Eligible for appointment as a postdoctoral researcher is someone who has completed a doctoral degree or has equivalent scientific competence. This qualification requirement must be met no later than at the time the employment decision is made. Preference should be given to those who have completed their doctoral degree no more than three years before the employment decision is made. If there are special reasons, such a degree may have been completed earlier. The starting point is that a Post Doc position involves full-time work. Additionally, this position requires:

• A doctoral degree in production technology, automation, or equivalent.
• Good collaboration skills, both internally at Högskolan Väst and externally with other universities and Swedish industry.
• Ability to present scientific results and write scientific publications.
• Experience in conducting teaching within the field of automation and robotics.

Qualifications that are meritorious for the position:

• Experience in applying for external funding from various financiers.
• Documented experience in the field of flexible production and multi-agent systems.
• Experience in supervising students at undergraduate and advanced levels within the field of automation and robotics.

Other:

A Post Doc position is a time-limited merit-based appointment with a main focus on research, intended as a first career step after a dissertation. In addition to what follows from the provisions of the Act (1982:80) on Employment Protection, a postdoctoral researcher may be employed permanently, but for a period of at least two and at most three years. If there are special reasons, the employment may be extended.

During the selection process, trial lectures, work samples, interviews, and reference checks may be included.
