Description of duties

Do you want to make a real difference? We are looking for a driven and engaged special needs teacher who wants to work preventively and promotively to create an accessible school for all our students. Here, you will become an important part of a large student health team with high engagement and a focus on development.

The role of special needs teacher at the upper secondary school within vocational programs

We equip our students for lifelong learning based on our goal image of students who want, can, and dare. As a special needs teacher, you contribute to this through your knowledge of learning prerequisites, how to promote, and how to prevent obstacles. We work with what we call "Design for Active Learning," which means systematic work with lesson design. This is to create security for teachers and students as well as to increase goal fulfillment.

As a special needs teacher with us, the work takes place at the organizational, group, and individual levels, with a particular focus on support in the subjects of Swedish and English. Part of the assignment is to support teaching staff in adapting and varying teaching, as well as to promote attendance and accessible learning. The other part consists of you teaching students within the framework of special support at the individual level as well as in smaller groups, both independently and in agreement with teaching teachers. This role also includes special pedagogical support for students inside the classroom in collaboration with regular teaching teachers. Some teaching may also be included in the position. The role also involves being a pedagogical support in pedagogical investigations, drawing up action plans, and following up on measures. You are an active part of the school's systematic quality work and student health work, and collaborate closely with school management, lead teachers, mentors, subject teachers, and others within student health.

You are a knowledge resource for your colleagues and our school management by contributing your special pedagogical competence in the promotional, preventive, and remedial work. We work with the student health meeting model (EHM), which aims for student health and educators to have a common forum for student health work and to focus on promotional school development.

Qualifications

We are looking for you who are a certified special needs teacher who can supervise students primarily in the subjects of Swedish and English. You must be confident and have the competence to support students in both subjects. It is meritorious if you have experience of teaching within vocational programs at the upper secondary level or have worked as a special needs teacher within the upper secondary school's vocational programs.

You have good knowledge of extra adjustments, special support, and pedagogical mappings, and are accustomed to documenting and following up on measures in the school environment.

Furthermore, you feel confident in supervising colleagues and have a relational approach. You work solution-focused and see collaboration as a natural part of your assignment.

You are comfortable supervising students, individually and in groups, as well as in the classroom in collaboration with other professions.

It is meritorious if you have been part of the student health team, participated in school development, and worked with problematic school absenteeism. It is also meritorious if you have a breadth in your competence, i.e., that you are confident in supervising in different subjects such as Swedish, English, etc.

We also see that you can express yourself well in Swedish, both orally and in writing, and can formulate yourself well in mappings and action plans. You handle documentation in a professional, forward-looking, and clear manner. We use the journal system Prorenata.
