The Prevention Department Children and Youth is looking for a new field social worker for our outreach team.

The outreach team is part of Varberg Municipality's preventive work, and we are now recruiting a new employee for our outreach team.

About the Role

We work preventively and relationally through outreach activities in public youth environments. The purpose is to identify youth at risk, i.e., young people who are at risk of coming to harm based on the environments and contexts they inhabit. We work both outreach and relation-building in risk environments and as a security-building presence in other environments.

Responsibilities

The outreach team meets young people who are at risk of developing negatively in various ways. The field social worker's task is to identify the specific needs of these young people and refer them to the support they need, such as parent contact, youth counselors/open care, social services authority intervention, or the Culture and Leisure Administration's youth activities or other leisure activities. The outreach team also provides parent support training for teenage parents, lectures, holds courses, and works preventively through, among other things, safe digital upbringing.

We have no documentation requirement; rather, the practical work means that we are mostly out in the municipality meeting young people in their arenas, which can be schools, streets and squares, youth clubs, or other places where they gather. The target group for the field social workers is young people aged 10-20, with a primary focus on those under 18. All contact between the young people and the field social workers is on a voluntary basis, meaning the young person always chooses how the contact should look. You will move around in different places and may have meetings in various locations during your workday.

The field operations work with everything from individual youth contacts to holding lectures and parent meetings. We collaborate with schools, the police, the Culture and Leisure Administration, and other civil society organizations to make a difference for the living conditions of young people together. Much of the work is based on the relationship between the young person and you as a field social worker, built through the contact created in the outreach work.

Evening and weekend work is included in the position.

Qualifications

We are looking for you who are educated as a social worker or have other education that the employer deems equivalent. Experience with youth work and collaboration with other professions as well as people from different cultures is desirable. You preferably have experience or enjoy leading meetings and informing/lecturing to larger groups.

As a field social worker, it is important that you convey security and a calm approach. You have the ability to build relationships and trust with young people to motivate them to various other support measures or more positive leisure activities, etc. You have a solution-focused approach and good collaboration and initiative skills. You are open, positive, and have the ability to see opportunities. The position involves a lot of freedom under responsibility, which requires that you can plan and structure your workday and further develop the operations based on the needs that emerge among the young people and our collaboration partners. You need to be stress-resistant and flexible as a workday as a field social worker is varied; you must then be able to prioritize what is most important and also be able to reschedule at short notice.

We place great emphasis on personal suitability and qualities such as collaboration skills, initiative, and flexibility.

A valid driver's license (Category B) is required.

A certificate of good conduct (extract from the criminal record) is always required.
