Part-time Personal Assistant for a Cheerful 13-Year-Old Boy in Ängelholm
About the Position
We are looking for a secure and engaged part-time personal assistant for a 13-year-old boy in Ängelholm. He is a cheerful, curious, and determined boy who loves music, singing, and dancing. He enjoys cycling, swinging, watching movies, and listening to music on his iPad. During the week, he attends school, so shifts are scheduled for mornings, afternoons/evenings, as well as weekends and school holidays. No overnight stays are required.
He has a significant functional impairment, uses a wheelchair, and needs help with all aspects of daily life. He does not speak but communicates using sounds, body language, and picture support (AAC). Therefore, it is important that you are attentive and patient – it takes time to get to know him and understand his way of expressing himself, and you will receive a thorough introduction together with experienced colleagues and the family.
You will work in his home and immediate surroundings, in close collaboration with the family and the rest of the assistant team.
Responsibilities
- Personal care: hygiene, showering, dressing/undressing, and support during meals
- Transfers using a patient lift
- Support in communication with the surroundings (AAC/picture support)
- Supervision and a calm, low-arousal approach – he may have outbursts when things do not go as planned, and he needs help to be distracted and calm down
- Daily training and self-care according to instructions from a physiotherapist, e.g., stretching, standing support, and orthoses
- Activities and adding value to everyday life: music sessions, walks, cycling trips, swimming, etc.
Who are you?
We place great emphasis on personal suitability – the right attitude weighs heavier than long experience.
- You are secure, calm, patient, and attentive, and take responsibility for your work
- You can handle physical work involving transfers and lifting
- You speak and understand Swedish; knowledge of Ukrainian and/or Russian is an advantage
- Experience in personal assistance, working with children with multiple disabilities, AAC, or low-arousal approaches is an advantage but not a requirement
- You are smoke-free during working hours
- A certificate of good conduct (extract from the criminal record) is required prior to employment for work with children with disabilities (ordered from the Police, presented in an unsealed envelope)
Scope and Conditions
- Scope: Part-time
- Working Hours: Working hours and degree of employment are planned in dialogue with the family/employer
- Employment Type: Permanent employment as long as the assistance assignment lasts
- Salary: Fixed hourly wage according to agreement. Collective agreement applies.
- Start Date: Immediately or according to agreement
