Your responsibilities

As a Building Inspector, you will work with the processing of building permit and notification cases, advance rulings, and shore protection, where you make decisions according to extensive delegation and prepare and present cases for decision in the committee. You will also work with the technical parts of the construction process and with supervision.

The work is largely carried out independently, with freedom under own responsibility but also in collaboration with colleagues, other departments, builders, consultants, and actors who are or will be affected by the decisions you make. Since it is important to us to have a shared perspective, and that we support and help each other in our work, the department has shared perspective meetings to take a stance on more complex issues, where we solve questions and keep ourselves updated together. We collaborate closely and share experiences; no one is left alone with complicated tasks.

Knowledge sharing, environmental scanning, competence development, and participation in quality and development processes are obvious parts to maintain a high quality of work. An important task is also to provide advice and information that is consistent with current legislation to the public, builders, and other stakeholders.

You will have the opportunity for flexible hours and remote work, when the business allows. You will also have good opportunities to plan and direct your own work.

We are looking for

We are looking for you who work as a building permit handler, building inspector, or are educated as a building engineer, house architect, or what we consider equivalent. For this position, it is required that you have a B driver's license, as you will make site visits. Since communication is part of our mission, you need to be pedagogical in your meetings with different actors and express yourself well in Swedish in both speech and writing. You have good computer skills and work without hindrance in digital environments.

You take responsibility for your tasks and structure your work so that you drive your processes forward. Planning, organizing, and prioritizing work in an effective way comes naturally to you, as does setting and keeping timeframes.

You are service-oriented, attentive, and accommodating in your reception. You have the will and ability to help others and deliver solutions; even if the information is limited or the conditions are challenging, you are confident in your authority role and make quick and well-founded decisions. Furthermore, you are unpretentious and meet every person you meet with respect and engagement, while taking own initiatives and contributing to a good work climate together with colleagues.

It is meritorious if you have good knowledge of the Planning and Building Act, the Swedish National Board of Housing, Building and Planning's building regulations, etc., as well as understanding and experience of working in a politically governed organization. It is also meritorious if you have previously worked in the business system EDP Vision and have work experience in the construction industry.
