About the workplace

Nexus Day Activity Centre is aimed at people with neuropsychiatric disabilities (NPD), particularly high-functioning autism, often in combination with mental health issues. Here, participants have the opportunity to settle in, find structure, and build their daily lives in a safe and adapted environment.

We work with the goal of combining sedentary activities with physical activities, as well as identifying strengths in our participants that can be used to move forward. Our premises provide good conditions for many different activities.

We will soon launch a digital day activity centre, and we already use VR in our operations.

Job responsibilities

As a support assistant with us, you work to create high-quality care, and you are expected to engage all your senses to contribute to a rich, exciting, active, and independent life for people with disabilities. This is a broad, mixed, and challenging job that places high demands on commitment, interpersonal skills, cooperation, and endurance.

You support each participant based on their needs, interests, and conditions. Examples of activities at Nexus Day Activity Centre can include gardening and plants, cooking/baking, crafts, art/photography, etc.

Challenging behaviour may occur, and we work with low-arousal approaches to manage and prevent difficult situations and conflicts. We work with great respect for the participant's integrity, and with participation as a focus, you tailor the support to the individual. You draw up and follow implementation plans for each participant so that they can have the best possible life.

Qualifications

We are looking for you who have a high school diploma from the Care and Nursing Programme, or alternatively studied the Child and Youth Programme with a focus on social and pedagogical work. We assume that you have good knowledge of what it means to work with people with high-functioning autism, as well as competencies in conversation methods and experience of meeting people with mental health issues. To proceed in the process, you must also have experience of low-arousal approaches and clarifying pedagogy.

As the work requires a lot of documentation, you need basic computer skills and good documentation habits. Good knowledge of Swedish, both spoken and written, is required, as well as a B driving licence and the ability to cycle.

To succeed in this role, you need an interest in or willingness to learn more about the activities and areas that participants at Nexus are looking for. As we are launching a digital day activity centre, good IT skills are also an advantage.
