Are you the field assistant we are looking for?
Do you want to work on building relationships with young people and contribute to a safe, meaningful, and active leisure time for youth in Haninge? This might be the role for you.
As a field assistant in Haninge Municipality, you work preventively, outreach-oriented, and safety-promoting with young people as the focus. You meet young people on their own turf, build trusting relationships, and act as a safe adult in environments where young people spend their time.
In addition to traditional field work, the role has a special focus on active leisure guidance. This means you practically and motivationally help young people move towards a meaningful leisure time, for example through associations, sports, culture, or other supportive contexts. The work requires good structure, planning skills, independence, and strong personal drive.
Our work is based on scientific grounds with a focus on prevention science as well as risk and protective factors. You will become an important part of the municipality's collective safety work and contribute to early interventions for young people in Haninge.
The working hours are scheduled during daytime, evenings, and weekends.
Main Responsibilities
Outreach and Relationship-Building Work
You create safe and trusting relationships with young people in public environments, schools, and other venues where young people gather. The role involves a natural presence in young people's environments, with the goal of being a safe adult and a professional support in their daily lives.
Active Guidance
The work involves adapting and matching children and young people to suitable leisure activities based on their individual needs and conditions. You work practically and motivationally to remove obstacles and help young people move towards, for example, associations, sports, cultural life, or supportive functions such as youth clinics. In this assignment, you work closely with schools, social services, civil society, and associations to find solutions aimed at strengthening children and young people's participation, safety, and hope for the future.
Strategic Planning and Follow-up
You independently plan, implement, and follow up on interventions regarding individual young people or groups. The role requires that you can structure your calendar, coordinate meetings, document relevant information, and follow up on ongoing guidance and support measures.
Collaboration
You play an active role in the municipality's network work, for example within SSPF/SIG and other forms of collaboration. You have close contact with guardians, social services, police, schools, associations, and other local actors.
Safety-Promoting Work
As a field assistant, you contribute to the municipality's overall situation assessment and are an important part of Haninge's safety program. Through your presence, your relationships, and your knowledge of young people's situations, you contribute to early interventions, increased safety, and preventive work in the municipality.
Qualifications
Education and Experience
We are looking for someone who has:
- A university degree as a social worker, social pedagogue, behavioral scientist, or another education that the employer deems equivalent.
- Experience in preventive work with young people.
- A B-class driver's license, as the role requires you to move independently around the municipality.
Personal Competencies and Skills
Relationship-Building and Social Skills
You have a genuine interest in young people and are skilled at building safe and trusting relationships on their turf. You have a professional approach, are a good listener, and find it easy to connect with young people, guardians, and collaboration partners.
Collaboration Skills
You have good collaboration skills and are comfortable working closely with colleagues. You communicate clearly, interact well with others, and contribute to a shared safety mindset in the work. You have the ability to trust colleagues' assessments and make joint prioritizations in complex situations.
Independence and Responsibility
You take significant personal responsibility for driving your processes forward. You are confident in making independent decisions within the framework of the assignment and can prioritize even when conditions change rapidly.
Structure and Planning Skills
The role requires that you can plan and structure your work, coordinate meetings, follow up on interventions, and quickly adapt when the situation demands it. You have the ability to manage both short-term and long-term processes regarding young people and groups.
Motivational and Pedagogical Skills
You have the ability to motivate young people who may have low hope for the future, weak networks, or limited access to meaningful leisure time. You can work sustainably, pedagogically, and solution-focused even when change processes take time.
Meritorious Qualifications
- Experience in guidance work.
- Experience working with SSPF/SIG or similar targeted interventions.
- Experience in outreach work with young people.
- Experience in leading or facilitating group activities in schools.
- Experience in seeking external funding, for example via Majblomman or similar actors.
- Good knowledge of association life, the sports movement, or civil society structures.
- Multilingualism.
- Local knowledge of Haninge Municipality.
Personal Attributes
We are looking for someone who is social, flexible, initiative-taking, and confident in themselves. You have high personal maturity and the ability to set boundaries, while also having a genuine commitment to the upbringing conditions of young people.
You thrive in a role where you can combine relationship-building work with structure, follow-up, and practical support for young people. You have the ability to meet young people with respect, clarity, and warmth, even in situations that may be complex or challenging.
Great importance will be attached to personal suitability.
We offer a developing, meaningful, and varied job where you get the opportunity to make a difference for young people in Haninge.
As an employee of Haninge Municipality, you are offered among other things a wellness allowance, smoke-free working hours, and free access to the gym in the municipal building.
