Birger Jarls Gymnasium is growing, and we now want to expand our team with an engaged and skilled teaching assistant!

About the Position

As a teaching assistant, you will work with several classes across different grade levels. You will support teachers both in the classroom and outside by interacting with students, providing a safe and reliable presence, assisting with simpler administrative tasks, and handling contact with parents. The role also includes shared mentorship for a class, together with a teacher.

Many of our students struggle with mathematics, so it is highly advantageous if you have knowledge of mathematics at the upper secondary level.

The position is a fixed-term appointment for one academic year, with the possibility of extension.

About the Role

As a teaching assistant at Birger Jarls Gymnasium, you will be part of a tight-knit team of teachers in various subjects, as well as another teaching assistant and a conversation coach. You are therefore expected to be cooperative and considerate towards your colleagues. We have a welcoming, helpful, and open climate, and we are looking for someone who participates socially and professionally in meetings, chats, and conversations with an attitude that the student is at the center and should have the best possible experience during their studies at our school.

Birger Jarls Gymnasium should be a safe and welcoming place for our students, and you as a teaching assistant are expected to treat both students and staff professionally, delivering quality both inside and outside the classroom.

You are passionate about your role, and it is of great importance to you to inspire our students and support them in reaching their goals. You have a strong drive to help even the weakest student get as far as possible.

Qualifications

We are looking for you who have experience working as a teaching assistant, preferably at the upper secondary level, although all experience working in a school setting is advantageous.

It is advantageous if you have knowledge of mathematics at the upper secondary level.

It is also advantageous if you have completed a teaching assistant training program.

We place great emphasis on your personal qualities.

About the School:

Birger Jarls Gymnasium in Stockholm started in the autumn of 2018. The school has approximately 300 students this autumn.

The school offers two university-preparatory programs:

• The Economics Programme with specializations in economics and law.
• The Social Sciences Programme with specializations in social sciences and behavioral science.
