RESPONSIBILITIES
A respite care worker is a person who temporarily takes over the care or supervision of a person with a disability or illness, allowing relatives the opportunity to rest, have personal time, or run errands. This is an intervention under the LSS Act (Support and Service for Persons with Certain Functional Impairments) or sometimes under the Social Services Act.
Duties may include:
- Spending time with the child or adult in their home or local environment.
- Activating and socializing, for example through play, games, walks, or other interests.
- Relieving relatives for a few hours per week or month.
As a respite care worker, you plan your work in consultation with the person you support and their relatives. You work independently, creating a safe and meaningful moment for the person you meet, while providing valuable relief to their relatives.
QUALIFICATIONS
You do not need formal education or specific experience; rather, openness and understanding of people's differences and needs are essential. Individual matching is done for each assignment based on the individual's wishes and needs.
- Experience working with people with disabilities is considered an advantage.
- Basic knowledge of various diagnoses covered by the LSS Act is considered an advantage.
- Education in areas related to autism spectrum disorders or other specific diagnoses is also considered an advantage.
As a person, you are sensitive, flexible, responsible, and humble. You have a good ability to understand and empathize with other people's situations and focus on current needs. You must have good planning skills, be engaged, and see opportunities rather than limitations.
Great importance is attached to the personal qualities required for the specific assignment.
You must be proficient in Swedish, both spoken and written.
To work within the LSS framework, Swedish law requires a certificate of good conduct (extract from the criminal record).
Employment type: Fixed-term employment.
Tomelilla Municipality has smoke-free working hours.
Employees are sought on the condition that the position is not required to be filled by already employed staff or persons with priority rights.
To ensure quality in the recruitment process and enable good communication with our applicants, applications must be submitted digitally via Visma Recruit and not via email or paper format. If you have protected personal data, do not apply via Visma Recruit, but contact HR Recruitment via the switchboard at 0417-18 000.
In connection with the recruitment process, Tomelilla Municipality has taken a stand regarding desirable recruitment channels and marketing. We therefore expressly decline contact with media sellers, recruitment sites, and similar.
