Seeking Crematorium Manager for Trelleborg Parish

Trelleborg Parish is looking for a new Crematorium Manager! The crematorium operations are part of the Cemetery Administration, which is responsible for funeral services. The goal of the funeral services is to respond with empathy and helpfulness to municipal residents, grave right holders, relatives in connection with deaths, and visitors to the cemeteries. Our experienced Crematorium Manager is now retiring, and therefore we are looking for a replacement. You will work administratively for most of your working hours, but you will also perform cremations yourself approximately every sixth week. Two crematorium technicians also work in the crematorium handling the cremation process.
Main Tasks and Areas of Responsibility
- Receive and administer funeral and cremation orders.
- Receive relatives and show grave plots for urns and coffins, as well as explaining different burial methods.
- Maintain contact with stone masons to ensure stones for ash grave plots and plaques for ash groves are submitted for engraving.
- Maintain contact with funeral homes, the Tax Agency, the County Administrative Board, etc.
- Check ash receipts and ensure that all ashes are buried within one year after cremation.
- Create cremation documents with associated cremation schedules.
- Hand over urns to funeral homes, parishes, and private individuals.
- Overall responsibility for maintenance, supervision, and upkeep of the entire cremation facility, including process equipment and cooling systems.
- Prepare and submit various annual reports, such as the cooling system's service and leak detection report, as well as an environmental report on crematorium operations.
- Receive the municipality's environmental unit for inspection visits, and handle any necessary measures.
- Order service, repair work, and handle metal recycling from the crematorium.
- Ensure that required measurements are made, such as sound emission measurements, dust measurements, and mercury measurements.
- Create cost and decision support documents for major maintenance and purchases regarding the crematorium, but with no budget or financial responsibility.
- Coordinate staff in the crematorium and perform cremations according to a rolling schedule, but with no personnel or working environment responsibility.
- Care for supervision and maintenance of buildings.
- Provide support as needed as a cemetery superintendent or coffin bearer.
- Perform other common tasks within the administration of funeral services.
Responsibilities and Authority
Overall responsibility for the maintenance, supervision, and upkeep of the crematorium, as well as the maintenance of process equipment and cooling systems.
Level of Independence and Initiative
The Crematorium Manager reports to the Cemetery and Property Manager. The role requires a high degree of independence and initiative. You have great freedom to structure your workday as you wish.

Professional Experience
The minimum requirements for the position are several years of experience with cremations and daily service of the cremation facility. Knowledge of troubleshooting and rectifying defects, the ability to discuss and find solutions together with external repair technicians, general machine knowledge, and understanding of how crematoriums function and are structured are desirable and meritorious.
Formal Education/Competence
The minimum requirements for the position are a Category B driver's license, upper secondary education, and training in crematorium technology level 1-2. Level 3 is meritorious. Language requirements are Swedish and English.
IT Competence/Special Programs
The position requires knowledge and the ability to learn to work in common computer systems and programs.
Difficulties and Challenges in the Role
The cremation furnace is specially built, requiring significant technical skill.

Opportunities exist for development within the role, such as participation in networks, conferences, and external training in leadership and cremations.
