Job Description
Would you like to make a difference for two young people at the Långhagsgatan children's home? Then you might be the support pedagogue we are looking for.
Långhagsgatan is a housing unit with special support services under the LSS Act (Act concerning Support and Service for Persons with Certain Functional Impairments) for children and young people with autism, ADHD, and intellectual disabilities. The age range of the residents is currently 13–16 years.
Here, there is a professional work group that collaborates with each other and other actors to ensure the best possible development. We put the children first. Their needs and wishes form the foundation of our work.
As a support pedagogue, you work actively with the young people, and it is an advantage if you enjoy outdoor activities and physical exercise.
Working hours are scheduled during the day, evening, and weekends according to a roster.
Together with your colleagues, you have overall responsibility for pedagogical methods, documentation, and operation-specific routines. A forum for implementing this is our operational meetings, which you prepare together with other support pedagogues and take turns leading. The purpose is always to inspire the work group to develop through reflection and knowledge. Your role includes ensuring the quality of the operations with a focus on proven methods and approaches in accordance with current laws and guidelines.
Qualifications
For the position of support pedagogue, a post-secondary specialization within the field of disability support is required, comprising at least 200 YH (vocational) credits, 120 university credits, or 60 university credits combined with two years of work experience with persons with disabilities. The education must include relevant credits in behavioral science, pedagogy, psychology, social work, and (psychiatric) nursing, or other education deemed equivalent by the employer.
You must have a passing grade in Swedish 1 or Swedish as a Second Language 1.
It is a requirement that you, as an applicant, have previous experience working with individuals with autism, challenging behavior, and intellectual disabilities. You must also have prior practical experience with AAC (Augmentative and Alternative Communication), clarifying pedagogy, and low-arousal approaches.
Experience in social documentation and knowledge of current legislation regarding LSS, HSL (Health and Medical Services Act), and SoL (Social Services Act) are also required, as well as a B-driver's license and driving experience.
Since the children's needs involve some physical activities, you must be comfortable with spending a lot of time outdoors and engaging in physical activities such as walking, excursions, swimming, horse riding, etc.
It is an advantage if you have experience working with children/young people and are proficient in sign language as support, and if you have completed the Studio III and/or Durewall courses.
To fit in with us, we see that you take responsibility for your and the group's tasks, take initiative, and start activities. With strong commitment, you ensure that the work is done in a high-quality manner. You collaborate well with others and show respect and consideration for those you meet in your professional role. At the same time, you have an open and positive attitude, using the user's needs as the starting point for your actions.
