Job Description

The school counselor has a special responsibility for students in need of special support from a social and psychosocial perspective, as well as actively participating in and assisting school management in school development work. The counselor's competence contributes to ensuring that appropriate interventions for students in need of special support from a social and psychosocial perspective are considered and offered. The counselor works to identify and create opportunities for change and development at the student, group, and organizational levels, for students' health, learning, development, and working environment. The counselor works for an equal learning environment that provides conditions for both optimal knowledge development and personal development. The counselor works from a solution-focused and evidence-based approach, both preventive and health-promoting. The counselor is part of the school's student health team.

The counselor's duties include, among other things:

• Contribute knowledge about risk and protective factors for students' health, social situation, learning, development, etc.
• Conduct school social surveys and social assessments as needed.
• Offer supervision, consultation, and advice to school staff from a social perspective.
• Collaborate and coordinate with students, guardians, school staff, and if necessary, external actors regarding interventions for students.
• Coordinate with authorities and operations in preventive work concerning the school or the City of Malmö.

Qualifications

We are looking for you who have a degree in social work and have at least two years of experience from social work with a focus on children and young people. If you have also worked as a school counselor before, it is an advantage. Furthermore, you have good insight into the school's goals and governing documents. We would like you to have knowledge of other departments, as well as child and adolescent psychiatry, social services, and habilitation.
