About the Job

Do you want to make a real difference for children and young people? Uddevalla Municipality continues to develop preventive work for children, young people, and their families, and we are now looking for an engaged field secretary who wants to be part of this work.

As a field secretary, you will become an important part of the Prevention and Family Law Unit, which offers preventive and voluntary support to parents, families, and young people. We are developing our work in line with the Social Services Act's focus on early and preventive interventions. Over the past year, the team has been strengthened with an additional position. Here, you will become part of a team of six field secretaries and work with youth issues at the individual, group, and strategic levels.

Responsibilities

As a field secretary, you work with outreach and supportive interventions for young people aged 10–18. All interventions are voluntary. You meet young people in their daily lives and are present in various environments, such as schools, youth centers, and other places where young people gather. This role suits you if you want to combine relationship-building work with collaboration and development together with both internal and external stakeholders.

  • You lead group activities, hold individual conversations, and participate in various youth events.
  • You also contribute knowledge about youth issues and the living conditions of young people in Uddevalla, which serves as an important foundation for the municipality's preventive work.

You work according to a schedule, which means working during the day, in the evenings, and on occasional weekends, approximately twice a year.

We are looking for someone who is secure, stable, and has good self-awareness. You want to make a difference, are good at building trust, and see the value in working closely with young people and their contexts.

  • You collaborate easily with others and meet people in a listening, respectful, and professional manner.
  • You are good at building relationships, inspire trust, and can adapt your working methods based on the needs of young people.

It is an advantage if you have knowledge of or experience in preventive and drug-preventive work aimed at children and young people. We also highly value your personal suitability, as relationships, security, and good judgment are central parts of the role.

Qualifications

  • You have a degree in social work or social pedagogy from a university or college, or another academic education that the employer considers equivalent.
  • A valid B-class driver's license is required, as driving is part of the job.

For positions requiring a license/valid certificate from the National Board of Health and Welfare for a protected professional title, this must be submitted before employment.

Language assessment is conducted for certain professional groups before employment can become relevant.

Criminal record checks are conducted for all employment within the social services administration.

For employment within residential care homes (HVB), an extract from the HVB register is requested.

For employment in operations directed towards children with disabilities, extracts regarding children with disabilities and a control of own data are requested.

For other employment within the social services administration, an extract from the Control of Own Data register is requested.

If the extract is not digital, it must be brought in an unopened envelope during the control process.

Employment is subject to necessary decisions being made. For positions involving direct and regular contact with children and young people, as well as for operations within LSS, care and assistance, health and medical care, psychiatric care, and addiction care, a valid extract from the police criminal record must be shown or submitted before employment.
