Child and Student Health Services in Kristianstad Municipality is a unified, cross-professional operation where school doctors, school psychologists, speech therapists, special educators, and central functions such as MLA and PLA work together.

We have a shared mission – to promote the health, development, and learning of children and students. Through early, preventive, and health-promoting initiatives, we create conditions for all students to succeed in school. Our various competencies collaborate closely and contribute to a holistic view of the child in their learning environment.

Your role with us

As a school doctor, you are an important part of the school's student health team alongside the school nurse, counselor, psychologist, special educator, and principal, covering levels from preschool class to upper secondary school.

The work of Student Health Services has a clear focus on health-promoting and preventive work, where the emphasis is on creating environments that strengthen students' health, learning, and development. Through early and systematic work, the student health team contributes to removing barriers to learning and supporting students' opportunities to achieve educational goals.

The work is carried out cross-professionally at several levels:

  • Individual level – through support for individual students based on medical, psychological, and pedagogical needs
  • Group level – through initiatives that strengthen student groups, for example regarding attendance, well-being, and health
  • School level – by contributing to the development of learning environments, working methods, and structures that promote health and learning

As a school doctor, you contribute a medical perspective to this work and help develop the school's promoting and preventive initiatives. An important part of the assignment is to collaborate with students, guardians, and school staff, as well as with other actors such as social services and healthcare when necessary.

The medical part of the assignment (EMI)
