School Counselor at International English School Älvsjö

The Role

As a school counselor, you will primarily work with health promotion and prevention, as well as implementing measures at both group and individual levels. The goal is to create a good environment for students' health, learning, and development. You will have regular contact with students, parents, school staff, support organizations, and authorities.

You will work through various types of conversations, both individually and in groups. You will supervise and provide consultation to school staff and serve as a support when crises and conflicts arise. You will participate in network meetings and play an active role in the plan against discrimination and harassment.

You are part of the school's student health team, providing psychosocial competence. IES has a central student health department where the coordinating counselor is included. The coordinating counselor introduces new counselors, invites them to various meetings, and serves as a support in daily work.

Qualifications

We are looking for you who have a degree in Social Work (Social Work degree). Experience from working in schools and within social services for children, young people, and families is an advantage. You have competence in counseling methods and experience using various types of counseling models.

It is important that you have the ability to work independently and collaborate in teams, as well as good skills in collaborating with other societal actors such as social services and Child and Adolescent Mental Health Services (CAMHS/BUP). Great emphasis will be placed on your personal qualities such as social competence, flexibility, and collaboration skills.
