Welcome as a Special Educational Needs Coordinator (SENCO) for grades 7-9 at Vallhamra School!

As a Special Educational Needs Coordinator at Vallhamra School, grades 7–9, you are a key resource with significant opportunities to influence the school's development work at the organizational, group, and individual levels. In close collaboration with the principal, you will work to ensure that all students have the best prerequisites for teaching, learning, and completing their studies. You will develop the organization for special educational needs work and maintain a clear focus that is firmly established within the school.

At Vallhamra School, we actively work to develop teaching and goal achievement in mathematics, as well as deepen knowledge of pedagogy, didactics for accessible learning environments, and relational leadership. You will become a key person in strengthening teachers' competence to meet students with different needs, abilities, and opportunities.

Co-teaching and Teaching Development

At Vallhamra School, we aim to have two educators on lessons to the greatest extent possible. We want to develop this collaboration, where the Special Educational Needs Coordinator plays an important role, for example, through supervision.

Student Health Team and Collaboration

The Special Educational Needs Coordinator has overall responsibility for pedagogical interventions and collaborates with teachers, the principal, the Student Health Team (SHT), and other functions. You will be part of the Student Health Team for grades 7–9, consisting of a special needs teacher, school nurse, school counselor, school psychologist, deputy principal, and principal. The team works closely together and closely with students, teachers, and guardians, adopting a preventive, promoting, and remedial approach at both group and individual levels. Work includes, among other things, school attendance, teacher, and guardian further education.

Responsibilities

Your responsibilities include, but are not limited to, screening plans, analysis and feedback to teachers/principal/SHT, pedagogical investigations, action plans in collaboration with special needs teachers, documentation in Prorenata, meeting coordination, and systematic attendance work. You will participate in Subject Didactic Collegium, networks, and workgroup meetings. Special focus in the role:

  • Drive and establish development that strengthens goal achievement in mathematics through analysis, intervention proposals, supervision, and follow-up.
  • Strengthen the school's ability to meet students with different needs, abilities, and opportunities in various subjects (structure, clarity, adaptations, approach, and didactic strategies).
  • Contribute to increased competence among teachers to create prerequisites for increased goal achievement in mathematics, for example, through co-teaching where relevant.

Qualifications

We are looking for you who have special educational needs education and good knowledge of relevant legislation. You have good knowledge and experience of the special educational needs role. We also see that you have experience driving change work with a focus on students' goal achievement and well-being.

Merits

  • Experience in developing teaching and support structures in mathematics (e.g., mapping/analysis, interventions, collegial learning).
  • Experience in developing teaching through, for example, co-teaching, lesson design, assessment practice, and compensatory/didactic support structures.
  • Experience in supervising regarding Neurodevelopmental Disorders (NDD) and accessible learning environments in subject teacher organization.
  • Experience in following up on the effects of interventions on both results and well-being (attendance, study environment, mood).

The position implies that you are expected to work systematically both independently and in teams. The work should be characterized by collaboration, flexibility, and good pedagogical leadership. You can collaborate and supervise educators based on existing needs. You are visible in the operations and are a secure and skilled educator. You are professional in meetings with employees and guardians. You are a leader who takes initiative and has an overarching perspective at the organizational level, and how it affects group and individual levels from spatial, social, and didactic perspectives.
