The Cultural School in Karlskrona belongs to the Department of Culture and Leisure and is an important part of the municipality's cultural activities. The Cultural School is responsible for providing voluntary education for children and young people in the fields of music, dance, visual arts, theater, and film, meeting approximately 1,000 students per week from lower secondary to upper secondary school.

The core activity of the Cultural School is voluntary subject courses, but through various projects, the Cultural School also collaborates with primary and upper secondary schools. The Cultural School also conducts outward-facing activities, which are an important part of Karlskrona's cultural life. As a music teacher, you will have approximately 20 colleagues in various subjects and professional fields.

Job Responsibilities

We are looking for an engaged music teacher in transverse flute who wants to inspire children and young people in their musical journey.

As a music teacher, you are independently responsible for scheduling, lessons, and lesson planning. You are responsible for the necessary contacts with students and guardians and participate in staff meetings. You plan the outward-facing activities together with your colleagues. Part of the role requires collaboration across subject boundaries, both individually and in work teams. To thrive in this role, you should enjoy teaching younger students where joy of playing and curiosity-creating pedagogy are prominent. You must be able to meet the individual child's needs and interests and have a clear child's perspective in your teaching. The position includes teaching on transverse flute and recorder, as well as ensemble teaching.

Qualifications

We are looking for you who have a teacher's degree or other education that the employer deems equivalent.

Furthermore, you are theoretically knowledgeable and have playing experience in most musical styles. You have a good and trustworthy way of working with children and young people to give our students the tools to develop their artistic and technical skills. The position requires that you are self-motivated, engaged, and accustomed to driving your own projects.

You are passionate about creating conditions for creative learning together with both colleagues and students. You are positive, flexible as a person, and contribute to creating a creative working climate.

The position is a temporary assignment (substitute) at 60%. Period: 2026-08-13 to 2027-06-18. Work is performed according to a schedule during day and evening hours. Some weekend work may occur during events and outward-facing activities.

For the position, you must be able to provide an extract from the criminal record register.

A Category B driver's license is required.
