We are looking for a female personal assistant for a happy, curious, and active 5-year-old boy with autism. The boy is currently non-verbal but is in a strong and exciting developmental phase. He is taking new steps in his communication, interaction, and ability to express himself.

As an assistant, you will be an important part of his daily life and witness when small progress becomes a major event.

He lives with his family in Södra Sandby and loves movement, play, and activity. He needs a secure adult who can meet his pace, create calm during transitions, and help him feel safe in various daily situations.

This is a job for you if you want to build a relationship over time, be present in play and daily routines, and contribute to giving a child better opportunities to understand, communicate, and develop.

About the position

The position covers approximately 60% or slightly more.

Working hours are primarily weekdays from 14:00–18:00 and every other Sunday from 12:00–16:00.

The boy attends preschool on weekdays from 09:00–14:00.

Your responsibilities

As a personal assistant, you will be a secure support in the boy's daily life. You will help him create structure, understand what is going to happen, and feel safe in different situations.

The duties include supporting routines and transitions, participating in indoor and outdoor play and activities, creating calm in new situations, and assisting with communication and social interaction.

We would appreciate it if you are willing to learn and work with Hanen-inspired communication strategies, including methods from More Than Words. This involves following the child's initiatives, observing and waiting for his signals, creating natural opportunities for interaction in play and daily life, and supporting him in expressing needs, wishes, and feelings.

You do not need to know this from the start. The most important thing is that you are curious, receptive, and want to get to know the boy on his terms.

We are looking for someone who is

A woman who is secure, calm, and patient. You need to be active and enjoy being on the move, as the boy has a lot of energy and likes play and activity.

You are playful, present, and responsible, and feel secure working closely with children. You are also receptive, good at reading small signals, and can create predictability in daily life.

Experience with autism or working with children is advantageous, but personal suitability is most important.
