The Swedish Defence University is an internationally leading institution within defence, crisis management, and security. We offer a unique academic environment where civilian and military sectors meet. We train civilian and military leaders, experts, and researchers who are to analyze and handle current and future crisis situations and security challenges. The Swedish Defence University educates Sweden's officers and leads the academic development of the officer profession. We conduct research in law with a focus on operational law and international law, defence systems, military science, leadership and command, military history, and political science.
The Centre for Total Defence and Society's Security (CTSS) brings together the entire competence of the Swedish Defence University and meets society's knowledge needs within total defence and society's security. Our areas of expertise—terrorism, total defence, information security, and crisis preparedness—are based on research and proven experience. CTSS is a project-funded activity that works closely with clients to deliver usable knowledge to managers and employees in the security sector. Extensive national and international networks of researchers and practitioners have been linked to each area of expertise. One of the centre's greatest strengths is the long-term nature of its operations, which offers clients continuity in their staffing and the opportunity to update knowledge previously disseminated. CTSS consists of three departments; analysis support, concept training, and the project training department. In total, there are just over 50 employed staff at the centre.
