The Department of Obstetrics and Gynecology at Skåne University Hospital (Sus) has approximately 900 employees and consists of gynecological and obstetric operations in both Lund and Malmö. As a university hospital, we also have assignments within research, development, and education. Successful research is conducted within the department, and several midwives are doctoral students. A research group is led by a professor in the field of sexual, reproductive, and perinatal health.

The obstetrics area includes delivery wards, neonatal units (BB), specialized maternal care, and ultrasound services in both Lund and Malmö. The Department of Obstetrics and Gynecology at Sus is one of the three largest maternity care operations in Sweden.

The neonatal unit (BB) in Lund is a highly specialized unit for pre- and postnatal care. Here, we receive patients from all over southern Sweden who have developed complications during pregnancy from week 22+0. We have close collaboration with the Delivery Ward, Neonatal Ward, and Neonatal Intensive Care Unit. At BB, we have 26 care beds, of which 8 beds are for pregnant women with complications and 18 beds are for women who have given birth with complications or whose children are cared for in the neonatal ward. In close proximity to the ward, there is a follow-up clinic and a breastfeeding clinic. In autumn 2023, we launched "BB at Home" (home-based neonatal care). We are now looking for a midwife who rotates between the BB ward and BB at Home.

Job Description

On the unit, doctors, midwives, pediatric nurses, nurses, and nursing assistants work together around the patient. We are divided into teams; a team consists of a midwife or nurse and a nursing assistant who together are responsible for their patients. At the BB ward, we work with both complex and less complex cases, both during pregnancy and after birth. Additionally, we care for those who are to give birth via planned cesarean section and pregnant women starting labor induction. In our work, we schedule using TimeCare.

As a new employee, you will participate in our introduction program. Thereafter, the work involves rotation between the BB ward and BB at Home to follow the birthing person through the care chain, which is a great opportunity for broadened competence.

Qualifications

We are looking for you who are a licensed midwife with the eligibility to work within Swedish healthcare. Language skills in Swedish equivalent to at least level C1 according to the Council of Europe's scale are required. It is meritorious if you have experience in maternal, delivery, or postnatal care.
