About the Role

Do you want to make a real difference for people living with cognitive illness and their relatives? We are now looking for an engaged and knowledgeable Dementia Nurse who wants to help develop future person-centered care and support within our operations.

Here, you will have a key role in working to strengthen quality of life, security, and self-determination for people with dementia. You will become an important knowledge bearer in the organization, working both patient-facing, consultatively, and with a focus on development.

Your Responsibilities

As a Dementia Nurse, you work independently and in close collaboration with nurses, occupational therapists, physiotherapists, needs assessors, care staff, doctors, and external care providers.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Supporting early detection of cognitive impairment and contributing to basic dementia assessments.
  • Providing support and counseling to people with cognitive illness and their relatives.
  • Working person-centered based on the individual's life story, habits, values, and wishes.
  • Mentoring, educating, and strengthening licensed staff and care staff in complex care situations.
  • Working systematically with BPSD, SveDem, and preventive measures.
  • Leading and developing teamwork regarding people with cognitive illness.
  • Contributing to coordination between the municipality, primary care, specialist care, and social services.
  • Driving quality and improvement work within the area of cognitive diseases.
  • Promoting equitable, safe, and evidence-based care.

This aligns well with the national competency description, where the specialist nurse's role includes leading the nursing process, mentoring teams, working preventively, and ensuring person-centered care.

Qualifications

We are looking for you who are a licensed nurse, preferably with specialist education in elderly care or dementia, or alternatively, other experience that the employer deems equivalent.

You have:

  • Good knowledge of cognitive illnesses and their consequences.
  • Experience in municipal care and support, preferably in elderly care.
  • Experience in mentoring and educating colleagues.
  • Ability to work independently, consultatively, and in teams.
  • A person-centered approach.
  • Interest in operational development and improvement work.
  • Good communicative and pedagogical skills.

As a person, you are secure, sensitive, and solution-oriented. You see the whole picture around the individual and have an easy time building trusting relationships.
