About the Workplace
Angeredsgymnasiet is a upper secondary school offering national programs, introduction programs, and a National School for Students with Physical Disabilities. Here, joy and enthusiasm are as natural as knowledge and development. We are convinced that students who thrive and feel a sense of professional joy also succeed better in their studies.
This position is located within our introduction program, where we meet students on the Individual Alternative (IMA) and Sprintus (IMS) tracks. At our school, you will become a key figure in creating a safe and motivating study environment for young people who need extra flexible and close support on their path forward.
Job Responsibilities
The work of the school health service should primarily be preventive and health-promoting in accordance with the guidelines of the Education Act. The competencies of the school health service should serve as support for the school's pedagogical work.
Your main work as a school counselor will be based on the introduction program's own school health team, where you will contribute your psychosocial expertise. You will work from a relationship-building perspective. As a counselor, you will collaborate closely with the principal, special education teacher, school nurse, educational leader, and study and career counselor at the unit.
In addition to the unit-specific work, Angeredsgymnasiet has a central school health service where the school works comprehensively and all professions collaborate in an interdisciplinary manner. The school's counselors also have very close collaboration with each other to exchange experiences and advance psychosocial work. Thus, you will be part of a context where you are never alone in your professional role.
Your main responsibilities include:
- Meeting with students in conversations based on their individual needs and the challenges they face, as well as working with curative support at the individual, group, and organizational levels.
- Having a coordinating role regarding the student's schooling and collaborating externally with other authorities such as social services, Child and Adolescent Mental Health Services (BUP), and others.
- Working preventively as a psychosocial support and sounding board for the unit's staff. Actively contributing to the unit's systematic quality work and school development.
Qualifications
We are looking for you who are trained as a social worker (socionom).
Experience working with young people with problematic school absenteeism, mental health issues, or other factors that constitute psychosocial barriers. Experience and knowledge of working with students with neuropsychiatric disabilities (NPD).
Previous experience as a counselor with successful health-promoting and preventive work in a school health team. Experience working with children and young people within social services. Experience working in a multicultural environment.
Since you will be part of a central group of counselors and collaborate broadly across the entire school, we place great emphasis on you being a team player with very good communicative and social skills.
As a person, you have the ability to inspire, motivate, and spread positive energy in your curative work, as well as to focus on solutions rather than problems. You are driven, goal-oriented, and flexible, and you adapt your communication to the recipient, target group, and situation. You value working in a multicultural environment and are genuinely attuned to students' different needs. Personal suitability is given great importance.
