Job Responsibilities

Are you our new school counselor? We are now looking for a new school counselor at Skolan på Ön. In your professional role, you are responsible for contributing to appropriate interventions at the individual, group, and organizational levels from a social and psychosocial perspective. Acting on behalf of the school leadership, you work to identify and create opportunities for development that will positively impact students' health and learning. You will be working with grades Pre-K to 3. Your direct supervisor is the Deputy Principal, who leads the operational work.

As a school counselor, you work to increase the conditions for students to achieve good educational outcomes. The counselor works from a solution-focused and evidence-based approach, both preventive and health-promoting. The counselor's duties include tasks related to the needs of the students and the operation, linked to the school's structure and the principal's organization. In your role, you are responsible for, among other things:

• Providing knowledge about risk and protective factors for students' health, social situation, learning, and development in complex student cases.
• Conducting school social assessments and social evaluations on behalf of the operational manager.
• Preparing reports of concern and serving as the school's contact with the Social Services.
• Offering supervision, consultation, and advice to school staff from a social perspective, on behalf of the operational manager.
• Collaborating with other professions at the school, guardians, and external actors regarding interventions for students.
• Collaborating with authorities and operations in preventive work concerning the school or the City of Malmö.
• Being responsible for developing the school's plan against bullying in collaboration with the school leadership and implementing it in practice.
• Being responsible for investigations into bullying and serving as a support to educators in their work on safety.

Other tasks may be added based on operational needs.

Qualifications

We are looking for you who have a degree in Social Work (Social Work/Sociology). It is an advantage if you have experience from social work focusing on children and young people. You are flexible and navigate easily in a changing organization, and can operate at the individual, group, and organizational levels. You work independently within your area of responsibility and find it easy to collaborate with both guardians and the school's staff and external contacts, such as the Social Services.

You find it easy to establish good relationships with students of different ages. You have good insight into the school's goals, legal framework, and steering documents, as well as knowledge of other departments and the Child and Adolescent Psychiatry (CAP) operations. Furthermore, you have knowledge of practice and guidelines in the field.
