Description

Åsenskolan is a middle school located in central Filipstad. The school has approximately 200 students who, for the autumn term, will be divided into four classes/grades. We also have an adapted primary school and an after-school care program. Åsenskolan strives for small class sizes, a developed student health service, and a safe schoolyard supported by "well-being wardens". The position also includes working as a special needs educator at Nykroppa School, located about 1.5 miles outside of Filipstad. There are 27 students at this school, which also has an after-school care center.

In total, approximately 50 dedicated employees work at the schools, focusing on promoting and preventive work based on the motto - "knowledge and security create well-being!"

We are now looking for an engaged and relationship-building special needs educator who wants to contribute to creating the best conditions for our students and our staff.

Responsibilities

As a special needs educator with us, you will play a key role in the school's development work. You will work closely with school leadership, teachers, and the student health team (EHT), contributing with both strategic and practical support. The position includes mentoring, preventive, and investigative parts, with a focus on strengthening the school's collective ability to meet the needs of all students.

Your main responsibilities will include, among other things:

  • Mentoring and supporting teachers through qualified conversations, didactic reflection, and joint problem-solving.
  • Leading and developing collegial learning in work teams and subject groups.
  • Working preventively and health-promoting together with the EHT and contributing to a shared view of students' needs.
  • Conducting pedagogical investigations, mappings, and observations, as well as following up on interventions at the individual, group, and organizational levels.
  • Contributing to the development of inclusive and accessible learning environments, focusing on removing barriers and strengthening the quality of teaching.
  • Participating in the school's systematic quality work, including analysis of results, absenteeism, safety, and study environment.
  • Collaborating with guardians, external actors, and other professions within the student health service.
  • Planning and implementing competence development for staff within special educational areas.
  • Standard administrative tasks related to documentation, follow-up, and student health work.

Qualifications

We are looking for you who:

  • Are a certified teacher with a special needs education degree and hold a B driver's license.
  • Have experience in mentoring, collegial learning, and development work.
  • Have a good ability to build trusting relationships and foster collaboration.
  • Work in a solution-focused, structured manner with a clear student health and learning environment perspective.
  • Have good knowledge of the Education Act, regulatory documents, and the mission of the student health service.
  • Thrive in a role where you both lead, analyze, and develop.

Conditions
