The position is located at the Department of Public Health and Caring Sciences and you will belong to the Centre for Research and Bioethics (CRB). CRB is an interdisciplinary centre where researchers have basic degrees in fields such as medicine, care, ethics, philosophy, and law, and work to investigate ethical, philosophical, and legal aspects of biomedical research and clinical practice.
Job Responsibilities
The work consists of investigating ethical, regulatory, and social issues related to AI-driven vaccine development within the framework of an international collaboration. This includes qualitative and quantitative research on perceptions among professionals and the general public. The role involves engaging key stakeholders in participation and dialogue, both in Sweden and internationally, as well as producing communication materials, frameworks, and policy documents.
Qualifications
We are looking for you who have a PhD in medicine with a focus on medical ethics/bioethics and a basic degree in a social science subject, such as behavioral science, psychology, sociology, or another relevant field.
In addition, you must:
- Have good skills in oral and written expression in Swedish and English.
- Have experience with qualitative studies, such as interview methodology, and quantitative methods such as correlation analysis.
- Have experience with software for qualitative analysis, such as NVivo, as well as statistical analysis software such as SPSS or Stata.
- Have experience with empirical-ethical research, which integrates empirical investigations with ethical analysis.
- The ability to work independently in research is essential. Great emphasis will be placed on personal suitability.
Eligible for employment as a postdoc is someone who has obtained a PhD no more than three years before the application deadline, or has a foreign degree assessed to correspond to a PhD. When calculating the three-year time limit, the starting point is the last application day. If there are special reasons, such a degree may have been obtained earlier. Special reasons include leave due to illness, parental leave, trust positions within trade unions, etc.
Desirable/Additional Merits:
- Documented experience in project coordination and multi-professional collaboration within research projects.
- Experience in conducting interviews with different target groups, such as healthcare professionals, authority representatives, patients and relatives, and the general public.
- Experience in producing target-group-adapted communication material about research.
About the Position
The employment is fixed-term for a maximum of three years according to the central collective agreement. The scope is full-time. Start date: September 1, 2026, or as agreed. Location: Uppsala.
