About the workplace

Angeredsgymnasiet is a diverse and dynamic school where joy, passion, and knowledge go hand in hand. Provided that we expand our organization from the autumn, we are looking for a fixed-term employment for one academic year at Unit 3 for the Introductory Programs, specifically Individualized Alternative (IMA) and Language Introduction (Sprintus). Here, we meet students with varying experiences, strengths, and support needs who require individualized study paths, accessible learning environments, and intensive language development to reach the next level.

At Angeredsgymnasiet, the student health services are well-developed. Each unit has its own local student health team for close, daily work with the students. At the same time, we collaborate school-wide through a central student health service where all professions cooperate in a cross-professional manner. The school's special needs educators work very closely together to share proven experience and create a consistent thread in the pedagogical and preventive work across the entire school.

Job Responsibilities

The role of special needs educator at Unit 3 primarily involves supporting teachers and support educators in working with students who need extra support. You will mentor staff regarding adaptations in teaching, classroom structure, study environment, and language-developing approaches. The role also involves helping to create accessible learning environments and finding effective strategies for students with different needs.

A large part of your work will involve mapping students' difficulties and needs, as well as writing, following up, and evaluating action plans and other pedagogical documentation. You will work closely with the student health team and collaborate with teachers, counselors, school nurses, and the principal regarding students' development and support measures.

You will also have contact with external actors such as Child and Adolescent Psychiatry (BUP), habilitation services, and social services to create a holistic view of the student and coordinate support when needed.

The student group consists mainly of students within IMA and Sprintus, which means young people who often need a lot of structure, motivation, and individualized support. Many students may have high absenteeism, neuropsychiatric difficulties, or be newly arrived while simultaneously learning Swedish.

Qualifications

We are looking for you who have a degree in special needs education and a teaching license for upper secondary school level.

We are looking for someone with experience working in upper secondary school, preferably with students within IMA/IMS or with newly arrived students.

It is important to have an understanding of students learning Swedish as a second language and to be able to work with language development in teaching environments. We also wish for you to have good knowledge of neuropsychiatric disabilities, clarifying pedagogy, and the use of visual supports, as well as familiarity with digital tools and compensatory aids.

We are looking for you who function well in a team and thrive in close collaboration with both teachers, support educators, and other special needs educators.

You need to be confident in a mentoring and coaching role where you can build good relationships and support colleagues in a sensitive manner. We would also like you to be structured and analytical, and able to translate pedagogical guidelines into practical solutions in everyday life. Furthermore, we are looking for you who have a relational and solution-focused approach, seeing students' difficulties from the perspective of teaching, learning environment, and context.
