Communication & Customer Service in Nyköping Municipality
Communication & Customer Service in Nyköping Municipality consists of several units, and together we are responsible for the communication function in Nyköping Municipality. Using communication as a tool, we have the task of providing good service internally and externally, contributing to operations achieving their goals, and making work more efficient.
The Communications Department is also responsible for the municipality's Customer Service. This includes customer service, the central switchboard, information services, and internal service in the City Hall, as well as the reception at the Technical Division on Arnö.
We are now looking for more Customer Service Coordinators for our operations.
Nyköping Municipality's joint customer service answers questions regarding:
- Urban planning, e.g., building permits, environment, and publicly funded travel
- Business, culture, and leisure
- Education; preschool, primary school, upper secondary school, and adult education
- Social care
- The Technical Division, e.g., streets, harbor, parks, and waste management
- Rescue and safety
As a Customer Service Coordinator with us, you will receive training in all the above areas and work on providing good service in all matters.
Customer Service is characterized by high accessibility, professional handling, and broad competence. Our goal is to deliver service and make a difference in every meeting with the residents of Nyköping, as well as to relieve our operations of general inquiries. Our goal is also to resolve most of the municipality's residents' questions upon first contact.

Job Responsibilities
We provide service primarily via phone and email, but also through visits and in our digital channels. The cases handled are varied, as the Customer Service Coordinator answers questions and provides service across all the areas presented above. Some rule-based case processing occurs, as well as staffing the switchboard and information desk. The job also involves maintaining good dialogue with case handlers and officials within the municipality. In the long term, you will have your own area of responsibility within one of our assignments.
Qualifications
We are looking for you who have:
- Post-secondary education in social sciences, service, or other relevant education, or equivalent experience.
- Previous experience from customer service and/or contact centers.
- Good knowledge of how society, public operations, and important societal functions work.
- Experience working with the phone and email as work tools.
- Good general computer skills and are accustomed to searching for information via the web and in various operational systems.
- Good ability to express yourself in speech and writing. The requirement is that you speak and write fluent Swedish and good English. Additional language skills are seen as positive.
It is meritorious if you have previous experience working in public operations within the areas of urban planning, business, culture and leisure, the Technical Division, Education Division, or Social Care.
As a Customer Service Coordinator, the questions are very varied. Important qualities for you are flexibility and solution-focus. Furthermore, you are self-reliant, take responsibility for your cases, and can prioritize in your work. You are also stress-resistant and can adapt based on what the situation requires.
To fit the role, it is important that you enjoy working with people and service and that you like talking on the phone. You will work with a strong focus on meeting citizens' needs. It is important that you are receptive and open, and able to adapt your working style and communication. Since the operations are constantly developing, it is important that you are curious and want to develop your competence in new areas.
You are confident in yourself, enjoy working in a team in a workplace with a high tempo where tasks and methods are constantly under development. It is important that you follow set goals, common routines, and guidelines.

About the Position
Our premises are in the City Hall in central Nyköping and at the Technical Division on Arnö, and our opening hours are between 7:00 AM and 5:00 PM.
- Salary form: Monthly salary.
- Employment type: Fixed-term employment.
- Duration: 6 months or longer.
- Working hours: Daytime.
