Specialist Physician in Infectious Diseases, Skåne University Hospital

Make a difference. Every day.

The Department of Infectious Diseases at Skåne University Hospital (Sus) is responsible for patients with infectious and immunodeficiency diseases. The department operates in both Malmö and Lund, providing inpatient care and outpatient clinics at both locations. In total, the department manages three wards with a combined total of 72 beds. The department primarily treats patients with acute infectious diseases such as respiratory tract infections, urinary tract infections, wound and soft tissue infections, gastroenteritis, endocarditis, spondylitis, and sepsis. We also treat patients with HIV, hepatitis, tuberculosis, tropical diseases such as malaria, and patients being investigated for fever of unknown origin. Both outpatient services and needle exchange programs are available in Malmö and Lund. The two main purposes of the needle exchange program, in accordance with the Needle Exchange Act, are to prevent blood-borne infections and to therapeutically promote drug-free living. We are active participants in the SUS Hospital at Home initiative at both locations, which offers inpatient care in the patient's own home environment.

The department has broad contacts with other units within the hospital, as well as with other actors in healthcare such as Smittskydd Skåne (Infection Control Skåne), Infection Prevention and Control, Clinical Microbiology, as well as universities and colleges. Within the department, there is a continuous work on development, education, and research.

We strive to be an attractive workplace where you have the opportunity to grow professionally throughout your career, with the patient's best interests always in focus. Job Description

We are currently seeking a specialist physician who wishes to work clinically with associated development work, at the Department of Infectious Diseases in both Malmö and Lund.

We work in an acute setting where we meet patients with complex medical conditions. We face exciting questions daily and strive to find solutions through collaboration and team spirit, always with the patient in focus. The role involves working with all common tasks within the department, including inpatient care, outpatient care, consultation services, on-call duties, and education. Educating and supervising students and less experienced doctors is a natural part of the role. Part of the position will be based within SUS Hospital at Home.

Research is an important part of the department, with close links between practice and science. We work to create a good work environment characterized by job satisfaction and mutual respect.

The advertisement concerns two positions, one based in Malmö and one based in Lund.

Qualifications

For the specialist physician position, a Swedish medical license and specialist competence in infectious diseases are required. You must have completed or planned a course in clinical supervision. Service, clinical skill, and independence within the main specialty beyond the obtained specialist competence are meritorious, as are teaching experience and supervisory and research experience. Proficiency in Swedish at level C1 or higher according to the Council of Europe's scale is a requirement.

To meet patients and their relatives in a respectful and empathetic manner, we assume that you are sensitive and have good pedagogical skills. You are responsible and feel a strong commitment to your work. You value working in a team with colleagues from different professions, and your ability to collaborate enables you to build good relationships and cooperate both within and outside the unit. You have an interest in development and research. Personal suitability is highly valued.

At a university healthcare unit, physicians are required to have pedagogical experience and education. This can be acquired through supervising, for example, nursing and medical students, as well as doctors in training, and as co-supervisor or main supervisor for doctoral students. Clearly describe in your application any completed or planned pedagogical courses, experience of supervision and teaching at different levels.

When submitting your application, you must fill out the questionnaire completely and correctly. You also need to attach your documents digitally; see "Other" below for which documents you need to send. For us to assess your application, it must be complete.

We warmly welcome your application!
