Job Description
MDU's research leads to necessary knowledge and development – for Swedish industry and welfare, but also for solving societal problems. The majority of the research takes place in collaboration with business and the public sector.
We are now looking for an energetic communicator with a focus on research communication, who wants to contribute to showing both the world and our own employees the benefit of our research. The role involves strengthening researchers in their own research communication, preparing researchers for media meetings, diving deep into research projects, and helping to describe the societal benefit of the research in an accessible, popular science manner. The work also includes staffing a case management system on a rotating schedule together with other communicators, where you handle operational tasks. You will work with many different tools and channels and need to have a broad range of competencies.
You will be part of a working group with other communicators within the Research and Collaboration Support department but also belong to the communication function area, which has representatives in different parts of the organization and is led by the Communications Director.
Qualifications
We are looking for you who have:
- A degree in communication at the university level or other education or experience that the employer considers equivalent for the position,
- Very good ability to express yourself orally and in writing in Swedish, as well as good knowledge of English,
- Several years of experience in communication work in a large and complex organization,
- Experience in leading projects and coordinating larger communication efforts,
- Experience in developing or supporting internal communication and collaboration.
Furthermore, you have experience in writing, editing, and tailoring texts for different channels, as well as working with and publishing content in digital channels such as web, intranet, and social media. This includes production, publication, and follow-up of news, as well as experience working in web publishing tools.
You work with a clear strategic perspective and have experience collaborating closely with managers and business representatives in co-creative communication processes. You also contribute to strengthening and developing others' communicative abilities.
Merits
For this role, the following experience is meritorious:
- Communication work in the higher education sector,
- Previous experience working with research communication,
- Previous experience working with communication in collaboration with various actors,
- Experience producing film or podcasts as well as photography.
Personal Qualities
In a combined assessment of suitability, personal qualities are also emphasized. All employees at MDU are expected to collaborate and treat colleagues and students with respect, take responsibility for the operations and their own tasks, and contribute to a good working environment.
As a person, you are proactive, structured, and have good collaboration skills. You take responsibility for driving the work forward, work methodically, and find it easy to collaborate with others to achieve common goals.
We value the qualities that a balanced age and gender distribution, as well as ethnic and cultural diversity, bring.
