Job Description

Several challenges remain before autonomous (or self-driving) vehicles can be introduced on a larger scale. This postdoc project is part of a Swedish national research project investigating how DevOps practices can be adapted to support safety-critical systems, specifically autonomous vehicles (http://tiny.cc/dg5nzz (http://tiny.cc/dg5nzz)). The need to update such vehicles is driven by commercial factors and growing IT security threats, but becomes particularly critical due to the open environments in which autonomous vehicles operate. This requires monitoring actual operations and the ability to decide on and perform necessary updates, while ensuring that such updates and new behaviors do not compromise personal safety. The project thus addresses the gap between DevOps and safety-critical systems.

The postdoc position offers a unique opportunity to research reliable DevOps for autonomous vehicles. You are expected to contribute to research and research collaboration (including with other academic researchers and our industrial partners). There will also be excellent opportunities for experimental evaluation and case studies, which we consider important. You are welcome to contribute to relevant educational efforts, such as formulating and supervising project-related degree theses and supervising involved doctoral students. Other teaching assignments may also be possible depending on your interests.

As a candidate, we believe you have a strong foundation in software engineering or in another central area relevant to the research focus. We are open to different profiles and directions for the position as described in a very recent position document (http://tiny.cc/kg5nzz (http://tiny.cc/kg5nzz)).
