One of our social pedagogues in the team will be on parental leave. We are looking for you who want to try this type of position to learn more and get a glimpse of the collaboration between the school and social services.

You will be part of a team, the school social team, which works with students who have concerning absenteeism at four different schools. The team consists of two social pedagogues and one social worker. You will work according to a model to increase attendance for students who are at risk of having excessive absenteeism from school. The team has its office at Milnerskolan and operates from there.

Parkskolan is a preschool to grade 6 school with approximately 320 students. It is easy to get to the school by bus, train, or car. The school has a student health team consisting of a special education teacher, special needs educator, school nurse, and counselor who work together with all staff members to promote and prevent issues.

Your role with us

As a social pedagogue, you work with practical support for students and guardians. You identify which students need support and interventions and support students in both social situations and teaching situations throughout the school day, in and outside the classroom, striving to create the right conditions for a safe school environment. You build good relationships with both students and guardians and work with motivational conversations with students and advisory and follow-up conversations with guardians. You plan and carry out activities for individual students or in groups based on student needs, with the aim of promoting security and study peace.

The work takes place in close collaboration with other school staff and the student health team. Understanding each other's professional roles is of utmost importance. In consultation with the student health team, you can assist in contacting authorities and external agencies such as the Employment and Social Services Administration, Child Health Services, Child and Adolescent Psychiatry, and make home visits if necessary to reach students who do not come to school. The work can be both physically demanding and mentally taxing.

Who are we looking for?

You who apply have:

• A degree in social pedagogy at least at the bachelor's level (180 ECTS/120 credits).
• A two-year social pedagogical education from a folk high school or university college.
• A degree/passing grade from equivalent education from a university/university college/university college that the employer deems sufficiently extensive.

We want you to have at least one year of experience working with children and young people and at least one year of professional experience as a social pedagogue. If you also have at least one year of experience working in a school, it is meritorious, as is experience of close contact with guardians. We would like you to have experience with neuropsychiatric disabilities and work with a multicultural target group. It is meritorious if you also have training in ART (Aggression Replacement Training) and MI (Motivational Interviewing).

Ability to choose appropriate methods within the pedagogical methods and techniques the school works with is an advantage. We want you to have the ability to act independently and in collaboration with others for the benefit of children and students, which you do with respect and openness to different people's life situations and life choices. You have knowledge of work with inclusion and social participation. Good ability to document and communicate in Swedish, both orally and in writing, is required for the role. You are responsive in interaction with different target groups and meet them in a balanced, low-affective, and respectful manner. You also need to have a good ability to guide students based on their experiences and conditions.
